The first eyewitness to report the lights was a German engineer, John William Gerard de Brahm, who wrote of lights over the North Carolina hills in his journal in 1771. I jammed my old truck in first gear and roasted tires all the way through first, snatched second gear and drove as fast as I could home. The Pyrenees being a guardian dog immediately sensed that something was wrong and so he turned to face the danger, belting out deep barks and growls in that direction.Others say appalachia is a beautiful, mountainous area of the country with it’s own culture, and nothing more. It is unknown whether he was haunted by the Bell Witch, but the legend has endured in Appalachia as one of its most famous ghost stories.

Dudley town has a very weird nickname, the village of the damned which is believed to have been cursed a long time ago. So, in short, I do think the Mothman urban legend is simply a legend, but it will surely keep a kid from misbehaving.

The Bell Witch Hauntings began when John Bell, his wife Lucy Bell, and their children moved from North Carolina to present-day Adams, Tennessee.
