Description

An early 2000s bottle of Dalwhinne 15 Year Old, perfect for fans of the popular Highland distillery. An old bottle of Dalwhinnie 15 Year Old, the Highland single malt Scotch whisky which is described on the label as being 'The Gentle Spirit' due to its light and elegant character (slightly different to Tomintoul's tagline of 'The Gentle Dram').

Dalwhinnie 15 Years Old 43% - idealo

In 1905 it was sold again, this time to an American company called Cook & Bernheimer making it the first – but not the last – time a Scotch whisky distillery would be bought by a North American distiller. Then in 1926 Dalwhinnie was bought by the Distillers Company, a forerunner company of Diageo, where it remains to this day. But the excitement didn’t end there as it closed in 1934 following a fire in February of that same year, reopening once more in 1938. The distillery lost its floor maltings in 1968 and then in 1987 the distillery was treated to a thorough modernisation. Only things didn't quite go to plan when the traditional worm tubs were removed and shell and tube condensers installed, because the new make just didn’t taste the same. So eight years later the distillery was refitted and (hooray!) the traditional worm tubs were reinstated. This second release of double matured whisky for the Distillers Edition from Dalwhinnie sees Highland single malt that was distilled in 1981 finished in oloroso sherry casks. Bringing some soft fruit character to the wormtub condensed whisky. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the licensing agreement, we're unable to sell this particular whisky to customers in certain countries. The whiskey was very well received in the test by spirituosen-journal.de. It already convinces with its harmonious smell of sweet and subtly smoky essences. This is crowned by slightly woody, spicy nuances and a mild aftertaste. Due to the balanced note, the tester recommends enjoying the 15-year-old Dalwhinnie neat and not with ice cubes or even soft drinks. In addition to the taste, the production method of the drink, which is still done in a traditional way, is also convincing. The bulbous bottle scores with its recognition value, but the opening could be a little narrower. The price-performance ratio, on the other hand, collects plus points again. Fruity Notes Reminiscent of Honey

Dalwhinnie Single Malt Scotch Whisky : The Whisky Exchange

year old single malt from the Dalwhinnie distillery, independently bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. This was distilled in December 1979 and bottled in January 1994 at cask strength. For most people the classic Dalwhinnie 15 Year Old whisky is the best place to start. The heavy sulphurous new make has been tamed by long ageing to produce something gloriously smooth and honeyed, with just a little smoke and an underlying meatiness.
