Find out about: What are mammals?, What are amphibians? What are birds? What are fish? What are reptiles? What are minibeasts? https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z6882hv For maths use the 6th of May bitesize lesson today on number facts. This should recap and sharpen those skills. A range of openers: Dad decided to..... Just then, Next, Then, When, If, While, At that moment, In the morning, etc. Draw a picture of your street. Support your child to take a look at the street and buildings around where they live. Encourage them to think about the shape of the buildings and the different heights. I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly!

Play on Number Fact Families - find the addition and subtraction fact families for numbers up to 20, 50 or 100. At 18 months old, Beryl the puppy has a mass of 60 kg. Her owners say this is 5 times the mass she was 15 months ago when they first got her. Imagine that Heather tells her son about the adventures that she has had with the alien. What would she say? Could you write or record that story? Play ‘Catch’ with your child using a ball or anything else that can be thrown safely. Instead of counting in 1s each time the ball is caught, ask your child to only count every second, fifth or tenth catch.

Week commencing 29th June

Unfortunately, she forgets to write the name of the animal next to the measurements, but she does remember some facts about each one. How were these experiences different? Compare them and discuss it. What would you need if you were blind in a seeing world?

Draw a picture of your animal and label it. Can you write sentences using adjectives (words that describe)? Once your child has listened to ‘Royal Tea’ ask them to imagine that they were on a visit to the Palace. What would it be like? You might like to search for photos of the ‘Birds nest’ to help you with your design but here are some to help.

In the following video, the author / illustrator answers questions from children in a primary school. What questions would you like to ask him? David first started to draw when he was very young, creating Star Wars and Indiana Jones ‘mash up’ comics for his older brother and sister. Since then David’s work has appeared in magazines, newspapers, books and on T-shirts. He has also exhibited his illustrations in both solo and group shows in the U.K, Europe and America. Has your child got a favourite sportsperson? This could be their P.E. teacher! Ask them to write an information booklet about this person. They can research or use any facts they know. Try to use different sections like childhood, training and championships. I have set maths challenges using Mathletics today as I wanted you to have access to measuring lessons that wouldn't necessarily need a ruler. These activities will be ongoing and have been set for a week. I will still post more maths activities here for those of you who cannot access Mathletics but I do not expect you to do both.
