My favourite chapter was the "End of Knowledge" Chapter and my favourite moment in the book was when the Prophet (Saw) looked back at Mecca at what he thought could be his last time and said goodbye. I was a freshman in high school when this book was released and came across it completely accidentally at the public library. It’s precise, draws lessons from the different phases of the prophet’s (pbuh) life to implement today, and mentions Qur’anic verses that came down in the different stages of the Prophet’s (pbuh) life and the reasoning behind them.

Reading The Simple Seerah made me want to read and learn more about Islamic history through its characters, I found myself wondering about Abu Bakr RA, and wanting more details about the Rasool. This is without doubt the best seerah book written in English and the one I always recommend when asked what seerah book to read. He was the perfect head of family, managing many women with ease, being a lover of their hearts, an instructor of their minds, an educator of their souls, he never neglected the affairs of the nation nor compromised his duties.

I absolutely loved the way the love between Khadija عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ and Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was described. Another benefit of studying the seerah, especially in details, is that it gives a more deeper understanding of the Qur’an. With each leap, the pain and difficulty from the Year of Sadness became more distant as they speared through the night towards Jerusalem, the same direction the Prophet and his followers turned to while praying.

The footnotes provided by the editor are also helpful and give further details of differences of opinion over various facets of his life and whether the stated fact is based on a reliable source or not. Most seerah books are written at a very academic level, so this is a refreshing change, and one that is needed to engage younger generations. This book would definitely intrigue and could be a stepping stone for Muslims to learn deeper about seerah in general. The number of these weak reports in the book are not a lot and does NOT take away from the overall value of this masterpiece at all.If you often review the names of hadeeth narrators, then whenever you come across the name of one of the narrators of al-Bukhaari in any isnaad, you will know that this is one of the narrators of al-Bukhaari, so you will benefit from this knowledge of hadeeth. Those people ended up confused about Islam and confused about the Prophet ﷺ after reading these books. That is why this book is the best starting point ever, not only is it entertaining and sets up characters and scenes in a similar ways to classic novels, it is also lays a great foundation in learning the seerah. Rather the purpose of hadith is to record a religious doctrine as an authoritative source of Islamic law. For every narration and incident mentioned, there is a reference to the original Arabic text that the narration is found in.
