Description

When using the XLR to XLR cable with the BM800 power needs to be supplied from a source that provides what is commonly refereed to as 'phantom' and does some magic internally to regulate/reduce the 48 volts to what its electronics uses. Giacomo bm-800-microphone-review A nice budget microphone, with good sound quality, and a great build. ADJUSTABLE CLAMP】: Adjustable clamp to mount on the desktop easily, fixes securely to any mic stand for easy to install and convenient to use.

From these, i've had the switch pcb, the DC-DC board and the Schoeps board done at Itead, and the last board and some class-D amplifier boards done at S-P.One example of a capacitor/condenser mic with an electret element is an AT2020 and there are other as well. Instructables, Modify a Cheap LDC Condenser Microphone, namely: BM-800 Microphone Conversion Part 1 and Part 2.

I'll have a batch of 10 of each of the 4 pcb's manufactured in China (hey, it's CHEAP ;D ), so it might take a good few weeks for actual physical results. It has a small diaphragm electret-condenser mic element - so it does not require high (polarizing) voltage.

Please therefore let us know if you are dissatisfied with any of our products, or if you have received faulty or defective goods. As it is a condenser microphone, it captures more detail and low volumes than your typical dynamic microphone.

Among it's included accessories is a foam cap to help reduce noise while the microphone is recording while the metal shock mount is for protecting the mic. If you were looking at getting a really cheap BM series model and wondered if you should even bother with one, let’s compare them against the AT2020. MAYBE the boards might fit other similarly sized mics, but i'll leave that up to others to find out, if they're curious (Apex 480 perhaps? They take native Eagle files, so there’s no need to double-check if you have all the necessary layers.

But the weird thing is that when I plug the microphone into the power supply and I check the voltage on the other side of the XLR input, the voltage drops to like 4. I have built my own 48V phantom power supply that puts out a constant voltage of 49V that I know should be okay. The mic seems to be the ultimate Millennial/blogger bait, lots of glitter and wires but doesn't perform. A 'phantom box' or other source of phantom is needed for the BM800 when used as a conventional XLR-XLR connected mic.

It's possible your bm800 is using a cheap electret capsule or dynamic style element instead of the promised condenser element. That discrepancy made me a little leery of just plugging this into whatever and cranking volts through it. In the mean time, i've kinda-sorta made a couple mock-ups with 1:1 printed pcb's, just to make sure things fit together, that the mounting holes are lined up properly, and that the switches poke out roughly where they should. In case the inherent presence peak of the capsule turns out to be bothersome, the circuit and the board have the resistors in series with the output PNP bases, precisely to facilitate implementing Henry Spragen's solution for that. If this is the case, then you have the right as a consumer to make use of the 30-day refund policy or to request compensation.

Whether sounds better on plugin power or phantom might be questionable, but people have used it on phantom and it does function. They appear to be manufactured by numerous different brands and can be found with different model names and numbers.
