Sure they could have printed more instructions, but back then they could also just get someone to manually draw on “11” and a line showing where it’s to go. r2-d2 is a loyal and dependable astromech droid, well equipped for starship repair and computer interface, and continues to be full of surprises even after decades of service. The new year is upon us, but first it’s time to put 2022 to bed with a look back at the best and worst of the key Star Wars toylines from the last 12 months. In this episode we are joined by two collectors with a keen interest in the unique ways vintage figures were packaged for the clearance aisles. Generation Skywalker provides
an online resource of information and entertainment
for anyone interested in
Star Wars and its cultural legacy.May 2002 saw the release of the second chapter in the Skywalker saga, and Episode II : Attack of the Clones instantly rocketed to the bottom of a lot of fans’ lists of their favourite five Star Wars movies. We leave no force-lifted stone unturned as we get into the themes, fan controversies and easter eggs, and breakdown what individual elements really shone and what left some of us cold. From the vintage mini rigs and the POTF2 Cruisemissile Trooper, to all the Jedi Star Fighters, the Galactic Heroes line and every single version of the Millennium Falcon – here’s our overview of some of the cherished vehicles and toy ranges Mark Boudreaux had a hand in during his incredible career as a designer at Kenner/Hasbro. It looks so similar to the standard one included with many other vehicle packs but this one actually seems to be just a bit shorter than the original with sculpting that might be a bit sharper. Its detractors are often quick to point at the bad dialogue, wooden acting and poor cgi, so why would Generation Skywalker dedicate a whole month to exploring a film most people are lukewarm about at best?

There's clearly two different colors of plastic here that don't align perfectly but, overall, it's a decent effect, particularly considering that the Star Destroyer is really just a shell for the playset inside. Welcome to the second in our trilogy of Those Old Fossils specials, where we celebrate Palitoy and the Star Wars products they released between 1980 and 1982. Neon orange on the crane, and cables moulded onto the base don’t look very Empire-y, but seeing as this toy came out in the ’90s, I’ll give this a pass. To actually be able to see the Twin Ion Engine (TIE) that powers this iconic vehicle is cool as hell. Both of these figures are reused sculpts from the army-building figure packs, but the paint jobs actually look a bit sharper. Find out how Jez, Dan and Craig's pitches for new mugs go down and watch live unboxings of some of the gifts Tiki Santa left under our tree this year (And make sure stay right through to the very end to see if Stu eventually makes it to the party. Join us as we discuss the trials and tribulations of Hot Toy collecting, from sequel troubles to the dreaded customs charges.

I'd be willing to argue that this Star Destroyer playset is quite possibly the rarest playset in the line and is definitely not something many fans will remember. Our BLOG is a great resource that goes deeper into some unusual, interesting and previously unexplored areas of Star Wars. Alex Pardi joins us to talk all about his Cantina Collection, Ron Salvatore pops in to wax lyrical about his love of Walrus Man (and his collecting pet peeve). We've not done a 'This Morning' style sofa show before, so have a look and see how the format suits us.This enhanced version of our vintage Vader special is packed full of images and footage of Bill's epic collection, as well as photos and clips of all the other rare and interesting items we discuss. The 10th Echo Base Live Star Wars show comes to Redditch on April 2nd 2022 and what better way to celebrate, than a special look back at past events and a peek at what to expect this time around? As longtime fans who are heavily invested in Star Wars, what exactly does everyone think to this film? This is another Epic set from Galoob and is well worth tracking down if you're really trying to complete this stellar toyline. Plus Stuart and Craig sit in to tell their stories of when they met Carrie Fisher and what the Princess means to them.

First up, Jez is joined by world class Leia focus collector – David DeMarchis – who discusses some choice pieces, including his R2/Leia miscard, some LSAF 'hair rooting samples' and his 12" Leia Bespin box flat. So, join four collectors as they discuss over 50 new items and discover what might be the next centrepiece to your collection. To kick off this year's run of Modern Way episodes, we are looking back at 2021 and forward to 2022. David Tree, Steve Davies, Rob Marsh, Peter Lee, Chris Mann, Mark Newbold, Marc Hockley, Wayne Totty, Jason Smith, Jon Aves, Lee Bullock, Drew Tegg, Darren Hayman, Andrew Norton and Andrew Karnecki all stop by to discuss their experience of the weekend. In this interview, Jon takes us through some of his memorable Star Wars experiences, from trekking across the desert visiting the film sets of Tunisia, to meeting cast and crew to collect autographs on a very special quad poster in an incredibly short space of time. It’s fine, but I think the Rebel Base did a much better job with the positioning of cannons than the Death Star did. Whilst Jez, with his alter ego 'The Running Stormtrooper', tells the tale of his Celebration running 100km whilst raising money for two children's charities. The set comes with four figures, the first two of which are an Imperial Officer standing at attention with his blaster held up and an Imperial Naval Trooper firing at a target. The team discuss their own recent purchases and what nuggets they know about Disney's future plans for TV shows and movies, before digging in to review all the new releases and announcements from Hasbro, Hot Toys, Lego, Gentle Giant and Jazwares. Jez quizzes Gaz and Tony on how the Alliance was formed and how they constantly seem to source a never ending supply of great vintage items, so if you ever wondered how to set up and run a hugely successful selling page this is the episode for you!
