Description

A stunning new colouring book that will take you through a year in the life of the English countryside. You really wouldn't know it was 2nd hand except for the lovely inscription inside the book from when it was first gifted. This prompted an interest in Roman history, Greek mythology, Egyptian mythology and on and on as far back as I could go. This fantastic pack contains six double sided book pages from "The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady" by Edith Holden.

All the charm and beauty of the original remains intact in this facsimile, with Holden's carefully handwritten favorite poems, personal thoughts, observations of the wildlife she saw in her native Warwickshire; and remarks on her travels throughout England and Scotland. Learn all about Edith Holden as we take a look at where The Country Diary Of An Edwardian Lady came from and use your kit to create nature themed make and projects. Edith Holden was born at Kings Norton, Worcester, in 1871, one of seven children of a Midlands paint manufacturer. The Country Diary Of An Edwardian Lady Slim Diary for 2024 features Edith Holden's beautiful and delicately observed watercolours.

Elegant and absolutely beautiful, this book is a visual banquet that I will continue to enjoy whenever I open its pages! After Edith's death, the book passed down through her husband's family until it came into the possession of her great-niece Rowena Stott. Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive. The book is 2nd hand but you would hardly know it as this has been looked after I had a copy from new but lost it in a flood so glad to be able to get again .

Alongside darling watercolours of the nature which she observed in her local area, Holden recorded fragments of her favourite poems by the likes of Burns, Chaucer, Shakespeare, and Barrett Browning, and personal observations. The pages you see above are examples of what you will receive and not necessarily what you will get as pages will be selected at random. I bought this book back in the '70s when it was highly popular, but somehow lost my copy, so when I saw a hardback copy for just one penny I had to have it! This issue of Country Diary Of An Edwardian Lady comes complete with an exclusive Country Diary Of An Edwardian Lady 8 piece die set, 20 piece stamp set, A6 embossing folder 32 page double-sided pack of papers and toppers.

The family lived in the small village of Olton in Warwickshire and it was there that she wrote and illustrated the book. May have some underlining and highlighting of text and some writing in the margins, but there are no missing pages or anything else that would compromise the readability or legibility of the text. She wrote about the weather, what she witnessed while out on her walks or, simply, she just expressed her feelings.

To reduce the risk of fire, never leave vintage electrical or electronic products plugged in unattended. Binding and cover condition: Quarter bound, gilt title to brown cloth spine strip with cream paper covered boards. Edith Holden (1871–1920) was born at Kings Norton, Birmingham, one of seven children of a Midlands paint manufacturer. Oct 14: Walked to Catherine de Barnes to get some Dogwood berries, which I knew were plentiful in the hedges about there.
