In September 2015, Weaver wrote and presented an eight-part podcast series called Missing, looking into how and why people disappear. [14] It was selected by iTunes as one of the best podcasts of 2015. [15] In August 2016, Weaver recorded three further episodes. And with his closest ally under arrest and about to reveal some truths of his own, the danger to Raker is coming from all sides... Weaver attended Norton Hill School [16] in Midsomer Norton, Somerset. He also describes himself as a "massive, massive football fan", [17] and supports Arsenal and Bath City F.C. Bibliography [ edit ] David Raker novels [ edit ]

Raker is hired by Rebekah Murphy to find out what happened to her mother, Fiona, who vanished on Boxing Day 1985 as she has recently received a card claiming to be from Fiona. Meanwhile Tom Brenner and his son Leo go into a fairground haunted house and don’t come out. What links the two disappearances? At every turn, when David feels he’s solved one mystery, at least another two emerge and he feels as if he’s getting further from the truth. To make matters worse, his friend, former Metropolitan Police Officer Colm Healy – a man most assumed to be dead – is in prison and a couple of officers are pressuring him to make a full confession, which would, undoubtedly, result in David losing his freedom too. Haunting, gripping, fast paced and complex, The Last Goodbye is a thriller with heart. I finished it with a huge sense of gratitude that it is a series and that it will not be the last I will be meeting the brilliant, driven, astute yet beautifully flawed David Raker. -- FEMI KAYODE I like Raker and his approach to investigating makes for a decent read, I’m just not sure there was a strong enough appeal for me to want to read the previous books. There just wasn’t enough there to keep me racing through, perhaps too many plotlines competing for attention? My issue with the Raker books has become the female characters. And I don't mean this in a bad way to Tim Weaver at all. But at a certain point, I realized that all of his female characters are completely interchangeable. Former journalist turned missing person’s investigator David Raker is under investigation himself. His last case revealed a man living under an assumed identity, one Raker had himself helped to create. But, as the police circle Raker is focussed on a new missing person enquiry, helping an adult woman discover why her mother disappeared when she was five years old. It takes them twenty-six minutes to get to the front of the queue. Preceding them are a group of four guys in their twenties: they’ve spent almost the entire time laughing. Behind the Brenners is a mother and her twin daughters. This is the twelfth book in the ‘David Raker’ series by author Tim Weaver. David Raker is an investigator who specialises in finding missing persons. I really enjoy this series as it is so well written and a little different to other books in this genre.

We meet David Raker who is a missing persons investigator, he is an interesting character and glad there are other books about him so that I can catch up on all the other novels. I love this series that features David Raker. You always know that this author will bring something special to each of his books in this series. His latest The Last Goodbye just blew me away. Richly descriptive and characters you feel as if you really know. Another MUST READ from this very talented author and a great addition to this gripping and very addictive series. The Last Goodbye is the twelfth book in the David Raker series, but (in my opinion) it can easily be read as a standalone.Tim Weaver is a master at his craft, and I only have read the one book thus far. The characters are immense and I was super invested in each and every one of them. When Rebekah Murphy was three, her mother walked out and never returned. Nearly four decades on, Fiona Murphy is still missing. Until a letter arrives in the post, claiming to be from Fiona. I’m a big David Raker fan and have read all of this authors previous books about as well as a stand alone which introduced Rebekah as a character. In this novel Rebekah and David come together as she hires him to look into her mother’s disappearance. Fiona Murphy walked out on Rebekah, her father and her brothers nearly 40 years earlier when Rebekah was 3. After a while, I began wondering why, although his books are a lot grittier and I don't agree with everything he's said re. politics, I found Anthony Horowitz's books just so much more appealing. And I eventually hit upon it: he lets women be bitches. Weaver's characters are almost always well crafted and convincing. The ones in this book are no exception to that. There are new people and some old friends. He is a master of pace and controlled tension. OK it's playing games but Weaver does it so well. A chapter ends on a key thought/aspect... And then so does the next one! There is light and dark here and bubbling around that ideas are building. Some bits I maybe worked out. The major twist I certainly did not!

I'd definitely recommend for those who love to solve a missing persons' case - this is the first Tim Weaver book I've read and it most definitely won't be the last.

Pre-order:

Missing persons investigator David Raker is hired by Rebekah to find out if the letter is actually from Fiona – and, if it isn’t, why someone would pretend to be her. Missing persons investigator David Raker is hired by Rebekah to find out if the letter is actually from her mother - and soon makes a connection to the Brenners. Another half-minute and the people who’d been standing behind the mother and the twins come out of the ride. Then the ones behind them, then the ones behind them. It’s like a conveyor belt of people, one after the next, heading in and then coming out.
