Description

It is worth mentioning that customizing the keyboard settings is entirely optional. The Logitech K780 keyboard is fully functional out of the box, and you can start using it immediately without any modifications to the default settings.

Using the Unifying Receiver requires the use of Logitech’s Options software, which you’ll want anyway if you plan on making changes to your K780’s settings. I didn’t experience the same issues connecting over Bluetooth to a phone or tablet, however, so these problems are most likely down to computing hardware, not the keyboard itself. Now, press and hold the “Bluetooth” button on the Logitech K780 keyboard. This button is typically located near the power switch or on the top row of keys. Gently take out the Logitech K780 keyboard and remove any protective coverings or plastic films that may be present. These coverings are usually applied to protect the keyboard during transportation. On your device, locate the list of available Bluetooth devices. This may be found in the Bluetooth settings or in a pop-up notification. Pairing to a new device is easy: you simply hold down the F1, F2 or F3 buttons until their respective lights flash rapidly. At this point, the keyboard is in Pairing Mode and will be visible to all nearby devices. Complete the connection on that device and you’re ready to go. Now I either have to live with laggy Bluetooth connection or buy a new keyboard with C-U0008 USB receiver to have my setup working again. Or I'd rather return the new M720 mouse and get Dell or some other brand making multi-device keyboards.

Select the Logitech K780 keyboard from the list to initiate the pairing process. Your device may prompt you to enter a passkey or confirm a connection code. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the pairing process. Once the pairing is successful, your device will be connected to the Logitech K780 keyboard wirelessly via Bluetooth. One area where I encountered no issues was wireless performance. The K780 has the potential of operating up to 33 feet from the signal source. While I didn’t experience this maximum range, I saw no range issues up to nearly 20 feet away over Bluetooth and nearly 15 feet away via the provided Logitech Unifying USB receiver. The three input hotkeys delivered instantaneous switching between devices and pairing was equally speedy and easy. Software: Customization ease with Logitech OptionsI like the design of round keys, I find that key action is good enough and not worse than any compact keyboard. The phone/tablet stand was not useful a lot for me. I don't use tablets, though, and I imagine it's helpful to put a tablet into the stand if the tablet doesn't have it's own stand. Battery life was great. I think I had to change batteries once since 2018. Overall, I'm satisfied with this keyboard. Now why I decided to write this review after 4 years using a keyboard? It kept well over the years, but the mouse I used with it got the soft cover material deteriorated. I wanted to replace the mouse with the same model, and keep the keyboard, and 2 USB dongles I was using with my laptops. Unfortunately, the new mouse came with C-U0008 USB receiver, and the old mouse and keyboard from 2018 had C-U0007. Now, despite that new mouse was exactly the same model as old one, and all those products advertised to be compatible with "unifying" receivers, they are not. Old K780 keyboard is not compatible with new C-U0008 USB receiver, and new M720 mouse doesn't work with old C-U0007 receiver. Logitech, this is a really bad way to s.... customers. There is a kind of a workaround - use Bluetooth instead of RF, but it doesn't connect instantly, there is a few seconds gap between the moment you press switch button and when the keys start working on another device. It's not much of a deal, but it's very annoying, especially as I have to use it because of Logitech's fault to keep the "unifying" receiver ecosystem really unifying. Also, this will not work for everyone - not all desktop PCs have Bluetooth.
