Description

This allows the metal detector to operate on multiple frequencies simultaneously. This detector uses frequencies of 5 kHz, 10 kHz, 15 kHz, 20 kHz, and 40 kHz. The lower frequencies are best for finding metals like silver. The higher frequencies of this detector will make it better for finding small or fine gold than the Simplex +. Gold is best found at frequencies above 18 kHz, so this detector will have more chance at finding small gold nuggets and fine jewelry.

You should walk slowly and smoothly with Vanquish 440, just like with all Minelab metal detectors. Hold the search coil 1 inch above the ground, and each wave of the coil should cover 1/3 of the previous one. A nice bonus is that you don’t have to take extremely small steps or bend over (it is quite annoying). The Multi-IQ also helps metal detectorists hunt in areas where other detectorists or mining have already been because this technology goes deeper and has a whole range of frequencies to detect a whole range of metals. Be sure to search areas known for gold (if that is what you are after). This is where you will find gold. It does not matter which detector you use; you cannot find gold if you are not in an area known for it.

The Minelab Equinox series consists of the Equinox 600 and 800. These were the first metal detectors to feature Minelab’s Multi-IQ technology. In relic mode, there is very little falsing, the accuracy is pretty good, and the need for a pinpointer is minimized. Typically, 12 kHz is not an ideal frequency for hunting in wet sand or saltwater environments. Saltwater is highly conductive and can cause VLF machines to overload and give false Target IDs.

SIMULTANEOUS MULTI-FREQUENCY

Larger Coil: Still a Double-D one, yet it is a larger one with 12*9 inches of dimensions… This will make the machine about 0.3 pounds (100 Grams) heavier (not significant I would say …) yet this will allow you to cover much more space while detecting. I’ve received many questions about whether Vanquish 440 is more similar to the 540 or 340 models? I would say that it is 540. Even though the 540 model shows different results, and it has some new functions as well as the possibility of wireless connection, the 340 model is still better in terms of a sensitivity level and detection depth. I, too, have all the bases covered for the detecting I most enjoy doing and appreciate what I get in performance out of the basically simple yet functional V-540.

The Vanquish 540 will likely perform better in saltwater areas. Saltwater is inherently conductive, and this has been known to throw off single frequency metal detectors. The Simplex + does have a dedicated Beach Mode which helps compensate for some of the saltwater effects. Both metal detectors have pinpoint mode, lighted LED screen, numerical target identification, and discrimination features. The 440 has fewer Target Tones than the 540, with 3 compared to 5. Discrimination is lower on the 440 with only 12 segments compared to the 540s 25. Both models have 5 depth indicator levels. Vanquish 440 does not have Bluetooth connectivity and can only be used with wired headphones (comes with the Vanquish 440) or via the external speaker. All the above mentioned made Minelab create another new product line. To be more exact, they started this process long ago by designing a middle level metal detector – Minelab Equinox. Then the company announced another metal detector, which I expected to be an alternative to their flagship device CTX 3030, but it wasn’t…. The lake beach sensitivity on an 8 is excellent, and to a 6 in the water. The remarkable thing about the Vanquish is that there are no in-between noises. When you open a box with Minelab Vanquish 540 metal detector, among others, you will see 4 NiMh batteries with a charging device for them. Since this is a metal detector of the beginner level, cheaper batteries are used. Other Minelab metal detectors – Equinox, CTX use Li-ion batteries. What sets Multi-IQ apart from other so-called multi-frequency systems is that it is true Simultaneous multi-frequency. Installation will take approximately one minute. Once the upgrade is complete, VANQUISH will restart and the MUU will prompt you to disconnect the detector and QUIT the application. The Minelab Vanquish 440 has all the features of the 340, except it has a pinpoint mode. It also has 5 Find Modes, like the 540. The 440 has less discrimination than the 540, at 12 segments (the 540 has 25). This feature is convenient if you own a good set of wireless headphones that cup the ears and have a noise-canceling feature. You want to hear all the essential sounds coming from the Vanquish 540 without other sound interference.
