Its offset bricklayer-style pattern looked quite nice, it stayed right in place, and slicing and dicing on this board felt good. We recommend using the small OXO Good Grips Utility Cutting Board (top) for simple tasks like slicing an apple, and the larger OXO Good Grips Carving and Cutting Board (bottom) for bigger jobs like slicing a roast. However, it’s important to use the dishwasher’s delicate/econo setting or set a timer to pull out the board during the drying cycle to keep boards from warping. The board is impervious to most chemicals, so it won’t react to the acid in tomatoes or the detergents used in your dishwasher. The PandaGrip Chopping Board is made from 100% organic bamboo with all-natural antibacterial, antimicrobial properties, low-moisture-absorption and fewer cross-contamination concerns.

Ideally, the board has enough texture on its surface that slithery foods stay still as you cut them, but not so much that the board feels rough to the touch. The Five Two board’s most notable feature is its slot for holding a phone upright so you can follow a recipe as you cook. This plastic board resists warping, staining, and odors better than the other plastic boards we tested.Some of our testers hated the look of plastic boards and didn’t like the way the knife made contact with the board. They performed well in all our tests: they had a good feel under the knife, had sufficient slip resistance when cutting slithery foods like squid, they were durable and yet gentle on a knife's edge—even after 200 four-and-a-half-pound strokes, the blade cut through parchment paper like butter. Because of that perfect flatness, it can be a little harder to pick up if your hands are wet or greasy, so you might need to slide an edge off the counter to get a good grip on it.

Cleaning a plastic cutting board is simple: just throw it in the dishwasher to thoroughly sanitize the surface, or do it by hand. We believe that a great experience requires not only a quality product but also exceptional service. Made from mildew-resistant, PVC, it's easy to wash between uses to kill germs and prevent cross-contamination when cutting raw meats. We’ve also chopped on both versions of the board side by side and couldn’t detect any significant difference. But its wide, smooth 11-teaspoon (just under 4 tablespoons) juice groove releases liquids more easily than the one on the OXO, and its handles are so barely indented as to be superfluous.Our testing for this review bore their claim out: Even after repeated cycles through our test kitchen's dishwasher on its highest-heat, longest-duration setting, they kept their flat profile. Made from sustainably harvested teak, it feels better under a knife than most other boards we tested. After you’re done cutting, wipe the board down with warm, soapy water, but never immerse the board in a sink full of water. And the grippy feet on the sides of the board keep in place better than other plastic boards that lack this helpful feature. Cuts and gouge marks from knives are more forgiving on wood boards because they tend to close up and self-heal over time.
