The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth Spoilers — May 30 | Gandalf the White, Aragorn, the Uniter, In addition to these, there are a few cards that give you additional value for flipping your Morphs.

Powerful and varied synergies between the cards. A decent number of good tutors. Good mana curve. Has an efficient and consistent way to win on turns 10-12 (level 7) or 7-9 (level 8). Some social rules — like no mass land destruction, no consistent combo wins — still exist. Lost Caverns of Ixalan Spoilers — October 24 | Quintorius Planeswalker, New Cascade and Token Tripling!,

The first tribe we are going to look at is Humans. Both Faldorn and Durnan are Humans, but I have a feeling that Faldorn will be the better option for this tribe. The reason I feel that way is because I want to lean into the specific faction of Humans that can also turn into Werewolves. It seems like a huge cut list, but the lands have to switch to snow-covered to allow for into the north, and that is solidly about half the cuts.

Aggravated Assault and other cards that give you additional combat steps let you trigger Durnan’s ability multiple times. There are a lot of sources of exile play now – foretell, adventure, rebound – which don’t require tapping, so they will occur as soon as he comes out. Including a bunch of these sorts of things gives even more draw, and causes some funny situations. You can exile Embereth Shieldbreaker, cast it from exile for a wolf, then exile it to later cast the adventure and get another wolf which is fun. There’s also the addition of some standard staxy type pieces – Cindervines is just an amazing card all-around, Goblin bombardment lets you sac your generated wolves to ping off dangerous utility threats, and several of the exile type things like Urabask the Hidden sort of have a staxy effect. We’re also biting into several mechanics from years past that play spells from exile, such as: Adventure ( Beanstalk Giant , Tlincalli Hunter , Embereth Shieldbreaker ), Cascade ( Wild-Magic Sorcerer , Volcanic Torrent , Bloodbraid Elf ), Foretell ( Green Slime , Demon Bolt , Battle Mammoth , Delayed Blast Fireball ), and Suspend ( Search for Tomorrow , Greater Gargadon , Venture Forth ). The Great Henge, Beast Whisperer, Primordial Sage, and Soul of the Harvest let you draw even more cards when you cast your free Morphs. You will want to use cards like Doubling Season, Parallel Lives, Primal Vigor, and Second Harvest. This will help you turn your incidental tokens into a sizable army. You can also pump their power with cards like Beastmaster Ascension, Coat of Arms, and Shared Animosity. New Cards From Battle for Baldur’s Gate It’s a bit sad that the token isn’t a dread wolf token. Regular 2/2 wolf tokens are a bit boring, obviously maybe it’s the herald that is dreaded, but it’d be nice to see menace somewhere. Would the wolves be overpowered with Menace? No. The answer is no. End of discussion. If the Throne of Eldraine Adventures are not enough on their own, Battle For Baldur’s Gate introduced a large number of new Adventure cards. Perhaps, combined with the cards that come in the precon and the cards listed above, you can find enough cards to keep up with the rest of the table.

However, whenever you cast spells or plays lands from exile, Faldorn gives you a 2/2 Wolf creature. We’ll go deeper into mechanics that specifically cast spells from exile later, and for now focus exclusively exiling card from the top of your library and casting them until the end of your next turn. For example, look no farther than this nice little list of cards: Alchemy Horizons: Baldur's Gate releases this July, bringing hundreds of new cards to MTG Arena and launching with everything you've come to expect from full set releases—including a Set Mastery, Draft gameplay modes, and more. As I have mentioned before, try to make sure you have enough ramp, removal, card, advantage, etc that also matches up with casting cards from exile. If the cards can do both things, they will be even more powerful than they otherwise would have been. 3. Undaunted (3-7) Which, conveniently will cause the triggered ability to go off whenever you ultimately play the exiled card. It’s also nice that it’s play the card (not cast) it’s also nice that the wolf trigger works from spells or lands; a lot of exile abilities don’t allow the playing of lands. There's 39 lands. wow okay... and one of them is temple of the false god. I've seen many a fellow fall prey to this one, but with this mana base I can't see how you wouldn't have umpteen lands out within turn 4.5

Prefer to play on your PC or mobile device? Fancy one-on-one showdowns over the adventure of multiplayer? Ready to level up with the latest Alchemy and Historic cards only available on MTG Arena? Gruesome Slaughter is a great removal spell that can potentially double as a board wipe. And since you’re not using your mana to cast your Morphs, you’ll probably be able to cast it. Even though the card advantage you accrue this way is going to be extremely valuable, it probably won’t win you the game by itself. Rather, I would recommend trying to maximize the value you can get from making those wolf tokens. One upgrade strategy that I did not explore in that article, but would like to go into here, is Morphs. These are cards with an ability that lets you cast them face down as 2/2 creatures for three generic mana. Then, you can pay their Morph cost at any time to flip them face up. Usually, when you pay a creature’s Morph cost, you also trigger an ability that they have. For example, here is Ainok Survivalist in case that wasn’t a clear explanation. You know the drill. It’s a 100 card format; cards go in, other cards must go out. We’ll start with my least favorite new card from the precon, Journey to the Lost City . This card is just not good, so it’s an easy cut. I want to pause here and mention a very similar commander: Prosper, Tome-Bound. Prosper has a similar play-from-exile ability, and a similar exile to get the pseudo-draw ability. Prosper is a very similar commander, but much stronger. Treasures are generally better than vanilla 2/2 wolves, because, you know, they can be tapped for mana. Prosper also doesn’t have to have his abilities activated; his abilities are both triggers, and he ramps and goes completely out of control frequently because red has lots of “impulsive draw”. Whenever you cast a spell from exile or a land enters the battlefield under your control from exile, create a 2/2 green Wolf token.
