In Fallout: Wasteland Warfare players will build their own crew from a wide range of factions, allies and iconic characters from the Fallout series, and play in apocalyptic games of 3 – 30 high quality 32mm scale miniatures through a huge variety of iconic scenery and settlement buildings, from the Red Rocket to Sanctuary Hills, Nuka-Cola vending machines and wrecked cars. Either one of these pathways can have an effect on the battlefield and ensures that no singular skirmish is the same for any player. I mean based around what you get in the box there doesn’t look like there would be that much to set up and you would be right! THEN once you have the whole thing set up, the take down is just as long putting all the stuff away.When you start using miniatures beyond the Starter Set, you will need to venture out and get the appropriate cards however. Develop your settlement and discover narrative campaigns as well as random missions and standard battles! The game also has a lot of weight behind it in how it handles the standard army war gaming genre, characters who are injured in the battle still remain that way after a mission and will not heal unless you can afford/find something that could dress the wound. At the beginning it has sections for how to properly assemble resin minis (which you don’t need to worry about with the basic plastic starter set) and even an entire section on painting minis which is just awesome. This can lead to fun rivalries growing at the table between players, maybe they have a heroic character who killed your longest living troop who you spent multiple missions upgrading and caring for.

This game’s always been on my radar but justifying another miniatures game is difficult when you can’t keep up with what you already have. The game comes with 12 total “range” sticks (see: rulers) in different colors that you use to measure the distance your minis can move and attack. After you or a friend get the Starter Set, your options are pretty open and its worth thinking about what you want to do with the game over the next year or two.A great miniatures game in its own right, and the best Fallout offer out there after the computer game. Also you can integrate the AI into any player count (if you have the expansions) so you could play a 3 player game with two humans and the AI. Combat is solid and engaging, if a bit slow, but then again, it would have been weird if it weren't so in a dedicated wargame.
