I honestly love when a story can pull the rug out from underneath me, and Hopeless presents quite a few victorious rug tugs!

Haunted by the little girl he couldn't save from imminent danger, Holder's life has been overshadowed by feelings of guilt and remorse. But I know it sucked and I have no idea why you aren’t crying right now, but I know your heart hurts, and maybe even your pride. I'm sad to say that I had much more pleasure reading some of the beautiful reviews written about it than reading the book itself. Overall, I would describe Hopeless as one heavy, intense, and emotionally-driven book with an extraordinary level of angst.

Like in Ugly Love, the rationalization behind so many actions are so twisted, they actually make sense. It's my favourite thing because I know if I ever get lost or lonely or scared, I just have to look up and it'll be there no matter what.

It's a story about how she meets a guy who is the only one to make her feel something other than numb (she has hot flashes and butterflies on seeing him.In the end though, I chose the former because I have more issues with this book than I've ever thought. However, Holder could not have anticipated that he would be faced with even greater pain the moment they reconnected. Her adoptive mother Karen doesn’t believe in a dependence on technology so they have no TV, no cellphones, no computer and no internet. Holder breaks down, and explains that the boy was the brother of the kid Holder had beaten up the previous year. If I’m being honest, it seems like little more than a way to make more money from an already profitable series by re-hasing the same events all over again.

I couldn't even understand why their relationship progressed into a whole new level after their first meeting. the relationship was so inconveniently timed and felt gross because of all the trauma that was happening around it. I was such a fan of Hoover’s YA books, so I was sad when she started to lose me a bit with her adult reads.

And unfortunately,she is also the type of girl who does not get attracted to boys much,gets bored while making out and never gets butterflies. That book could have EASILY been longer, the storyline was addictive and the fact it was over so quick, felt like a missed opportunity.
