Description

Will You Love Me? is the story of Cathy’s adopted daughter, Lucy, who arrived as a foster child and stayed for good. Couldn’t put the book down! I love Cathy Glass’ work and this was no different. A really personal memoir and all the more touching as Lucy features in other books too. In the other books I'd read, Cathy's own children were a lot younger and it was nice to read about them as adults and be updated on their lives. This is still a great publication helping to understand children, their issues and how to deal with them. Can’t wait for the next book!

Will You Love Me?: The story of my adopted daughter Lucy

When in junior high and high school (I reside in Ontario, Canada), my mom was also a foster parent to a very abused brother and sister. I can still recall some of the trauma they endured at the hands of their parents, which was quite bad to say the least. Any issues with the book list you are seeing? Or is there an author or series we don’t have? Let me know! Lucy was born to a single parent who had herself been abused and neglected for most of her childhood. Lucy’s mother couldn’t cope with a baby and Lucy was neglected right from the beginning. Despite concerns being raised by her teachers and other adults Lucy wasn’t taken into permanent foster care until she was eight years old. But even then her problems weren’t over. As she was moved from one foster home to another she became increasingly distressed. I have three children, two birth children and one adopted child. When I left school I held a clerical position in the civil service, which I left to start a family. At the same time I became a foster carer, the inspiration for much of my writing. I have been a foster carer for over 25 years. I have a degree in education and psychology which I was awarded as a mature student. My true-life stories show the suffering and courage of some of the most vulnerable children in our society and have world-wide appeal. My books are also used by trainers and practitioners, working in childcare and child protection.

Summary

Already looking forward to your next book. I am reading your Lisa Stone books at the moment and enjoying them..." Publication was in 2020 and the story is set in the very recent past (obvious from the first few sentences). It's a family drama, and some people would probably describe it as "gritty". It's not the kind of thing I would ever choose to read for pleasure, but many people do, and for them this would probably be a treat.

An easy 5 star for me along with the vast majority of Cathy’s other books. I love her writing style, usually I don’t like descriptive writing but I feel with this being non-fiction it kind of works better? Loved it! I read this in couple of sittings, really hard to put down, fantastic read, well done Cathy and congratulations…" Having read all of Cathy Glass’ books, I had high expectations of this book, and they were fulfilled! I recommend this book to anybody. This eleventh memoir and latest title from the internationally bestselling author and foster carer Cathy Glass can either be read as a full eBook or in 3 serialised eBook-only parts. Will You Love Me tells the true story of Cathy’s adopted daughter Lucy.

As usual this is a very engaging read which gives insight into the range of responsibilities that are part of being a foster parent. Not only is Cathy caring for the child she also takes on a key role in the broader dynamics of the family. I think I’ve read most of your books. however you have a book that is Book one, two and three. Which ones are they??? I’m reading Neglected now and like all your books I enjoy reading them all. What is the one before Neglected??? Please let me know. Many thanks. Madeline ReplyLucy was born to a single parent who had herself been abused and neglected for most of her childhood. Foster carers rarely get the praise they deserve, but Cathy Glass's book should change all that.****'
