They ARE NOT! (they do have a few cringe love scenes but not very descriptive) Its not like parents can hide this from kids anyway. They always find a way. SO what are they gonna do, Protect us forever. Now this is a more suitable age. Again it depends on maturity. Kids are usually in 7-8th grade at this time. I would say wait until 8th grade because this is before a kid goes to high school and life will be more interesting. I feel as a more mature and knowledgeable person I can appreciate the book better. But there are some parents that are very protective from letting their kids know about... you know... se x and if this is the case I would wait until the parent, possibly you, think that this knowledge is ready to be shared. Although the book can be unsettling at times when it hits you hard on what se x actually is. In the third book ( Heir of Fire), Sarah Maas starts some real work on a pretty serious and more lasting connection for the main female character. In the remaining books, what was built in book 3 continues, but most of the tension in those books is not generated between the main male and female characters. I get bothered by YA books that are too focused on a teenager’s will-we or won’t-we kiss turmoil. I’m ready for the action! Anything you didn’t like about the books?

This is where it reeeally depends on maturity, I read this as a mature 12 year old. Was I ready for this if I was 11.... most likely not. If as a parent you aren’t ready to answer questions on why the characters took their clothes off, or as a kid you want to keep your innocence a bit longer, I wouldn’t read. But it’s really an amazing book SJM is an amazing writer. It’s up to you to decide though. And I think it is important to clarify a bit about me and the books I like to read. After all, just because I liked them doesn’t mean everyone will like them. I love books with a strong female lead. I love books that have a lot of action, suspense, twists, turns, and complex writing. I dislike books that are solely focused on whether or not the main male and female characters will get together in the end, or if they’ll end up in bed together. Hello Yellow - 80 Books to Help Children Nurture Good Mental Health and Support With Anxiety and Wellbeing - These answers aren’t very helpful. “Maturity” is not a quality that is required to read these books. There really isn’t such a thing as a “mature” 12 year old. Even “mature for their age” is misleading language. A person can only compare books, or really anything in life, to what they’ve already experienced. If that experience has been restricted to modern YA novels this book might be well received if the reader in question is inclined to enjoy the fantasy genre and violence. Do know that as you read the more recent books there is more swearing like b tch and bast rd but that's about it. The sex scenes are a bit cringe but it's not graphic. I mean, Dorian is into some weird kinky shit but yeah that's about it.Just so you know what to expect, I am going to talk about this series and my experiences reading it, and what I think about it. However, I am going to try to avoid spoiling the books for you if you’ve never read the series, FYI. But talking about the series it's not very culturally diverse. The only characters who weren't white were in like two books at the most. Example: Nehemia. She was my FAVOURITE character. I was so upset that Sarah killed her off, and there wasn't even a good reason why. She could've lived and it would still be a good book. year-old Celaena Sardothien was once the kingdom’s deadliest assassin, but now she serves a life sentence of hard labour in the filthy salt mines of Endovier. She is astonished when the monotony of day-to-day life in the salt mines is interrupted by the arrival of the young Captain Westfall, who offers her freedom – but at a price. Westfall wants Celaena to be the young Prince Dorian’s ‘champion’ in a deadly contest in which she must face the most gifted criminals and assassins in the land. If she wins the tourament, she will be free – but if she doesn’t, she will face death. But when Celaena arrives at the luxurious glass palace to compete in the tournament, she soon discovers that there is more at stake than she could ever expected, and she increasingly finds herself drawn into the intrigues of the Royal court. Is the series perfect? Nope. Could the books have been better in places? Yes. Was there some editing misses? Sure.

Sarah J. Maas’s Life Sounds Like Pure Chaos — in a Good Way!

The Prince enters her into a competition to become the King’s champion, and the book unfolds as Celaena works her way through the competition, learns more about herself, and faces down horror after horror that her world throws at her.

YES, GO FOR IT! It’s an amazing series and bound to get you obsessed! Get some juicy stuff and action! SUSPENSE! Oh the suspense. The series is great in the first book and the prequel, I didn't particularly enjoy the second book, but in the third book, heir of fire, the plot just changes entirely. From badass assassin fighting for her freedom to faerie queen fighting against evil. I didn't really mind the switch cuz I'm into that stuff but I know a lot of people hated that the dynamic changed so much, so beware of that. Did you know you can flag iffy content? Adjust limits for Sex, Romance & Nudity in your kid's entertainment guide. Get started Close Well as long as the kid is mature enough to not make a big fuss about what is in that book (which is mostly kissing and blood and no sex) Like Cinderella's love story and the action and competition of The Hunger Games ... then this is the spectacular book for you! This book is going to be HUGE Dark Readers

Court of Thorns and Roses, Book 1 - Common Sense Media A Court of Thorns and Roses, Book 1 - Common Sense Media

Personally I love romance so this series is amazing to me, but if the child doesn't like/understand romance they they probably wont like this. I know it sounds weird but many of the romantic scenes from the fifth book up may scare sheltered children. The libraries all either say it's mature or for like 15 years old and up but really it's not even that mature. I do feel like adults like to exaggerate the amount of graphicness in books like these because they don't want their kids to know about these things because they feel like they're too young to be exposed to these kinds of things. I'm up to book 5, and btw, I'm not a parent, I am thirteen years old and am just doing that to get it free. also, if you're under 13 years old, would not recomend because of all the violence and sex. it's very good though, don't get me wrong. so if you're 13+, please read!

Magic fuses every word of this book together, and I found myself loving all the characters as I got to know them. This is a beautiful read A fan on Goodreads As I am writing this review, I realize now that I never read The Assassins’s Blade, which is a collection of stories set before the first Throne of Glass novel introduced us to Celaena and her story. In hindsight, I realize how that there were many references to those stories in the final book, and I wish now that I had read those books before I finished the final book. Do you recommend the Throne of Glass series? Do you think magic is an important thing to have in your life? If you do, how do you find and keep magic? As an adult who has read a lot of romance novels, it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary or even that explicit. But if you are a parent reviewing a series for your child who is younger, this might not be the series for you if you are wanting to keep your child from reading books that contain descriptions of adult activities. Teens and adults drink wine, sometimes to excess that causes them to be hung over the next day. A character is addicted to opium. There isn't sex, swearing or inappropriate content if that's what you're concerned about. There is some mentioning about periods and there is some violence (although it isn't that descriptive).
