Description

Use this Dragon scene Colourful Semantics activities to support the learners construct sentences using colour coded text parts in line with the Colourful Semantics framework. An exciting narrative that will have children wanting to learn all they can about mythical creatures.

The illustrations capture the solitude of George's world, glimmers of colour among the mostly gray background. Children will memorise and perform this poem, describe objects to aliens using adjectives before finally writing their own alien poems. A lovely story with illustrations that lift it out of the ordinary, I'm very happy to add it to my ever growing collection of dragon books!

Telephone wires, dustbins, butterfly chasing, cat taunting, water lily sinking… the dragons perplex and populate George’s world. Describes a book or dust jacket that does show some signs of wear on either the binding, dust jacket or pages. A novel of Lanny Budd, American, in the terrifying days from Munich to the fall of Paris, while an apprehensive world watches Europe yield to the German war machine. The children are introduced to The Dragon Machine by Helen Ward and other well-known dragon stories, George and the Dragon by Chris Wormell, and The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch. I felt like there was not a lot of complexity to the story, but again, perhaps that is essential to appeal to three-year-olds.

This book is a little disturbing in that it takes his parents a while for them to notice that he is gone.
