Description

As well as several non-fiction bestsellers including Bravo Two Zero, the biggest selling British work of military history, he is the author of the best-selling Nick Stone and Tom Buckingham thrillers. Some good action and supense, and narrator Paul Thornley is always so convincing as the voice of Nick Stone, in fact Mr McNab should also sound like Mr Thornley! This is still an enjoyable series and there have been lots of highlight, this book touches on a few mainly the characters, it just wasn’t one of the better ones for me. Besides his writing work, he lectures to security and intelligence agencies in both the USA and UK, works in the film industry advising Hollywood on everything from covert procedure to training civilian actors to act like soldiers.

Published in 1997, Remote Control was hailed as the most authentic thriller ever written and has sold over half a million copies in the UK. But there are deadly complications - not least that Nick soon discovers himself at the heart of a chilling cyber conspiracy that threatens war with Russia and the very existence of the Western alliance . Although his back up characters, whilst excellent, in the book may not be much help when physical help is needed.

When I first started reading the Andy McNab books, I found them quite hard, I'm not sure why, but they didn't flow that well. Having read all the previous books, some more than once, I am not sure I will read the next if it happens. As well as several non-fiction bestsellers including Bravo Two Zero , the biggest selling British work of military history, he is the author of the best-selling Nick Stone and Tom Buckingham thrillers. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Part of the problem is that she may not want to be rescued and the group do not seem cult like at all. A shame the series has to come to an end, but alas all good things must, and at least it’s gone out with a bang not a whimper. The central character in all the books is Nick Stone, a tough ex-SAS operative working as a 'K' on deniable operations for British Intelligence. I guess author McNab has done just about everything he can with this character in a series starting back in 1998. And this is quite a slow and dull book too making it an effort to turn the pages and, even worse, care about the main character. honestly, it is a book full of blablabla, some old pals which resemble his last sort of family, NO mentioning of any of his former life or adventures, NO considerable action, no nothing, if it is not the last nick stone novel (as promised within the book), it definitely will be the lasts for me. Nick is as down to earth and resourceful as ever, but with a serious moral conscience that he’s never shown before.
