I literally went from room to room just doing that, and taking photos of it and putting it on Instagram, not with the intention of starting a blog at all, just because I needed it for my own sanity. I chose this book to educate myself how to better support the bereaved/bereaving families I work with. After having seen many reviews on social media about Ask Me His Name, I felt compelled to read Elle's story of love and loss of baby Teddy. It captures Elle’s journey to their rainbow, and a story of fertility that might just reflect yours too.

As a 22 year old, avid reader it is safe to say I received a couple of question about why i would want to purchase a book that talks about the death of a baby and a mothers journey through navigating a motherhood she never expected however, something drew me to Elle. I agree with Elle that it is something that you simply do not get over, a loss stays with you, shapes the person you are and never leaves you. As I spoke to Elle that day I decided to invite her onto the podcast to talk about her version of motherhood with her friend Michelle Cottle, whose daughter Orla was born sleeping in 2016.Ask Me His Name is a moving account of Elle's pregnancy, Teddy's life, and what happens when a mother leaves hospital with empty arms. Would highly recommend anyone to read this book, not only for the emotional reconnection to reality, but also the fact it’s such a beautifully written story in memory of someone so dear. I heard somebody say not that long ago, that they went to counselling after many many years of dealing with loss, and their counsellor said ‘What you’ve got to remember about emotions is, you can run from them and you can try and hide from them as long as you like, but they’re coming for you! I am a health visitor and as a team we are looking at ways we can support our bereaved parents after a loss.

Whether you’ve been in the same sad situation or not, this is a book that will stay with you and, hopefully, as it has me, allow you to feel you’ve learned something about supporting others.Elle Wright had an admittedly easy pregnancy - her scans went well, she and her baby were healthy throughout, and in May 2016, she and her husband welcomed their son, Teddy, into the world. There was a particular moment and I can still think about it so clearly: I was sitting up in bed, about a week or two after Teddy died, and I could hear people walking to work. Ask Me His Name is a moving account of Elle's pregnancy, Teddy's life, and what happens when a mother leaves a hospital with empty arms. anything to allow them to speak proudly about their child because they are still parents and still proud of their children no matter how long they spent on this earth.

At times it was difficult to read through the tears, but this is one of the books I will remember for a long time.

Not a book I’d recommend reading shortly after your baby dies (oops, I have now learnt this lesson). Elle, Nico, Teddy and Boris' journey has given me strength and everybody should take the time to read this book.
