Righteous Purpose just makes your operative immune to critical damage, allowing them to have any criticals inflict normal damage. What better excuse is there to finally paint all the boxes of scenery you’ve got sitting around untouched? Warhammer Community unveiled new pics of the terrain, some rules, and more about the upcoming starter box. These are pretty basic, and I hope they get published elsewhere for Kill Team players to get there hands on them, as they are currently locked behind a box that to be honest will only be of interest at this point to those who want the minis at this point.

Costing 1AP, you can light up enemy operatives and depending on how many Markerlight counters they have on them, you gain benefits, much like how they work in the T’au Codex for 40K. There’s also a new grenade that’s super helpful for the Pathfinder strategy: The Markerlight Grenade, which can drop markerlights on multiple enemy targets at the same time.I’m a big fan of narrative right now, and these really scratch that narrative itch and would work brilliantly within a Spec Ops campaign. A board with no traverseable light terrain, while helping melee kill teams also makes it harder for them and other operatives to move around the kill zone. We will use anonymous information about the ad you saw and how you engaged with it to measure and improve our advertising campaigns in the future. Perhaps I wasn’t shaving off my sprue gates well enough, but between a mould line remover, a file and a decent pair of RedgrassGames Precision Nippers I like to think I’d done a good enough job tidying up the sides of these things.

The first has the user count as having +1 markerlight token when shooting at a target with 1 or more markerlight tokens, the second turns you into a marker drone. Today we’re looking at the other, less-heralded rules in the box: The Spec Ops campaign rules for Chalnath.

You gain Faith Points at the start of each Turning Point, as well as when your operatives perform certain actions, such as if one of your Novitiate with the Marksmanship specialism incapacitated an enemy. There are some really lovely models in this part of the kit: the novitiates themselves are wondrously detailed, and there are so many weapons and other customisation options across the kit to make each one really unique. Resource-rich and isolated from the other worlds of the Chalnath Expanse, the Vedik System is a worthy target for the T’au Empire. But if you’ve been bitten by the Kill Team bug and want to get playing as soon as possible, the route you need to take is a little more difficult. Rob has spent most of the last 20 years playing World of Warcraft and writing stories set in made-up worlds.

The scenery is impressive, even if it is the standard 40K affair of wrecked buildings and tumbledown walls, and will no doubt be featured in promo photos for other Warhammer 40,000 releases for years to come. Back by popular demand, the included set of Sector Imperialis terrain features a selection of walls, platforms, and pillars to hide behind, with plenty of ornate windows to shoot from. Including drones, there are a massive 16 types of operative you can construct from this kit, while you can bring up to 13 into each mission. The terrain rules are pretty straightforward, and really need to be available for anyone who plays Kill Team without this box.
