It has nice resonating bass that goess really deep and i couldnt tell if this is analog or digital but would guess analog.

This seems mediocre on the level of my Opiate EP by Tool, also released in '92, and both releases feature Maynard, who is, at least in my experience, known for putting out audiophile-grade releases. The band released their demo also Rage Against The Machine, 11 months prior which contained earlier recordings of 7 out of 12 songs found on this album. I bought this last night, making originally what i thought was a slight mistake (it has the stampers for the later MoV reissue not the first). This is obviously a much heavier album than any of those, but the sound is similar - most similar to the AC/DC presses, but with more low end.

Recently picked this up, and my copy matches the picture exactly - an “A” that maybe looks like RL on the A side, and an “A” that is clearly an A on the B side. What's more, it's clearly written on the inner sleeve, at least the one with the cut-out lid, that the album was mastered by Bob Ludwig. It’s like this pressing is a cap gun and you’re 5 years old thinking cap guns are the shit, and then a cannon goes off in the yard next door. Just picked up the Euro non RL variant 2 version of this album aka Holland version and it still sounds great. I scanned this board for consensus on this board and was ready to take this back without even listening to it.

This pressing is great, yeah it doesn't have the separation of the OG, but this album is mixed and mastered so good, that even CD slams, so this is perfectly fine pressing for majority of fans. Best overall for me is the Hoffman-mastered SACD, you've never heard this album without all Bob's eq and it sounds even more powerful. By far the best I've ever heard this album sound, though I can imagine some might actually complain about the lack of compression.

If there was ever an album I expected to be mixed crazy loud (not just compressed, I mean just plain loud too) it was this album. I also have the MoV Evil Empire, which is from original EU parts and i would say this is along those lines. Coupled with how hard Rage's music goes in general, it really makes for a visceral rock 'n roll experience.I did that when I bought this back in the 90's, and over the years the ink on the slipmat leeched into the vinyl making it pretty much unplayable. The boxset contains never-before-released concert material, including the band's 2010 Finsbury Park show and footage from early in their career, as well as a digitally-remastered version of the album, B-sides and the original Rage Against The Machine demo tape (on CD for the first time).

And, unless I find a deal on a US pressing I can’t refuse, I’m gonna stick with this one for the long haul. The amount of detail, the soundstage, the dynamics - everything you want from a top notch record, it’s here. The Tidal version suffers from a little too much loudness, like a lot of digital things from this era do, but it still sounds better and more dynamic than this press. The band announced on October 9, 2012, via their Facebook page that they would be releasing a special 20th anniversary boxset to commemorate the group's debut album.Couldn't help but let out a laugh when Timmy C's bass kicks in on People of the Sun - crisp, punchy low end that slaps you across the face. Also you need a really Hi End system to notice the compression that was introduced by remastering it, other than that this thing slams as hard as the OG, turn up the volume and given how expensive the OG pressing is this is totally worth it. One way or another, I also have the 20th anniversary press, and hearing that side by side with this, it’s like an entirely different album. It's definitely not an original because on the inner sleeve, the side with the pictures of Peter Tosh etc. Finally, I don't have the third variant yet, I hope that someone who does have it can give more information about the details that differentiate it from the first two editions; By the way, all 3 VARIANTS were pressed simultaneously in 1992, so if you own any of the 3, feel lucky, buddy!
