The comedian's first book - The Sound Of Laughter - is still the biggest-selling hardback autobiography of all time, selling "well over a million copies" across all print editions since publication in 2006. The story spans his life from high school to mid twenties when he won his first stand up comedy competition. It was a huge deal for him when, in 1990, he landed his first junior job at Granada Television — which he describes as “the Hollywood of the north”.

Listened via the audio, some time after the initial release so it was advertised as having bonus content. I was so self-conscious, I didn't even have my English GCSE, but then slowly I began to find my own voice, and everything began falling into place. Bolton comedian Peter Kay has announced a new book reminiscing about his television career, including his time at Granada.Whilst working on BBC Series The Sunday Show, Kay decided to “push the boat out” on his last episode of Peter Kay’s World Of Entertainment segment and get Jimmy Savile on. Something about this memoir reminds me of that episode of 30 Rock when Tracey remembers he has a memoir due to the publisher the next day. What makes this book special is how it shows how hard Peter worked in his life to earn money to pay for his college. In the book, he went on to say: “ David Beckham, Sir Michael Caine, Sir David Attenborough and Sir Billy Connolly. Peter Kay broke the Guinness World Record for biggest-selling run of all time for his 2010 live tour, where he played to more than 1.

Yes, he uses a lot of physical comedy for performance, but I've read many a celebrity memoir that you comes across in their voice, regardless of their comedian status. It is his first live tour since 2010, when he scored the Guinness World Record for the biggest selling run of all time, playing to more than 1. The focus is on delivering comedy around the stories in his life, rather than the reality of the stories themselves. It is just that he seems to have been extremely lucky in his road to success and we are all aware of all of it. I'm getting more and more into autobiographies as time goes on, and it's reassuring to know that a lot of famous people were precisely nowhere when all of a sudden, things started happening for them.Glad I did, as this was the part where he tells his little anecdotes about the various jobs he’s had. I am not a huge fan of autobiographies but this is the only book my husband has ever mentioned to me (that may be because it is the only one he has ever read) so I was guilted into reading it. I told him that it was a bag of treats I’d brought, as it was his last show and I thought we could have a bit of a party. Then Parky and I acted out a little scene in front of the other guests where I pretended I was crossing a road while he pretended to hold back traffic.

But one memory he is particularly fond of includes appearing on the last episode of Michael Parkinson’s chat show before he retired in 2007.The thing that struck me as a little odd, or maybe just not healthy, I'm not sure; Was how much he relied on his mother (I'm not saying that's a bad thing, or maybe I am *smiling*).
