You have to wonder what the world thinks of the US. I mean, you have some idea already … but when someone names their product O.K. Beer and markets it to Americans, it says a lot. O.K. Beer is brewed by Carlsberg Polka, part of the global Carlsberg Group. O.K. is one of their first US exports. It’s a Polish Pils, with pilsner as the world’s best-selling beer category. With a 6 percent ABV, this Polish beer first emerged in 1768. The lager is pretty affordable and gives you that authentic Polish taste. Another variant of the beer, called Prazubr, features a 5 percent ABV and an unpasteurized texture. The first thing to know is that beer is called piwo (pronounced pee-vo) in Poland. Poland is one of the largest producers of beer in Europe. The oldest variation of the brand is Łomża Wyborowe, formerly Łomżyńskie Wyborowe, brewed since the beginning of the brewery’s existence, i.e. since 1968. Okocim Brewery was founded in Brzesko in 1845. Before World War II Okocim beer was already a popular brand.

On the one hand, this led to the collapse of many small and medium breweries, but also to the consolidation and development of the largest ones. It’s strong (%-wise) and has smoky, caramelly vibes. Baltic Porter is one of a very few beers that it gains over time. It resembles good wine: the older it is, the better. The Rise of Polish Craft Beers Brewery began distribution to other towns of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1913. In the 1990s, the brewery was acquired and modernized by Heineken International. We’ve put together a list of the top 15 Polish beers for you to choose from, regardless of the style you’re looking for. The Perla Chmielowa beer has a bitter flavor, a golden appearance and a lot of malts on the aroma. You will also perceive floral and citrus hints on the nose but poor head retention. Other notes in the flavor include lemon, lime and bread. Overall I have to say that this is quite intense. That's not a negative, it just is. It's rather abrasive, which leads me to drink it slower than average. Huge amounts of roasted malt combine with an acrid taste to form something that really must be drunk slowly. I didn't dislike it, it just was not 100% my speed. It's not something most would want to drink often, but it's a concrete wall of a beer.

Piwo grzane is only drunk in the winter. It is warmed-up beer flavored with honey, cinnamon, and cloves. I’ve never tried this latter concoction, but it sounds like mulled beer. Fun for the holidays? Maybe. The beer is the first-ever pale lager to exist and features a 4.4 percent ABV. It is made with soft water and Saaz and Noble hops. Although it was initially created in 1842, it is an iconic brew, so don’t let this discourage you.Today you’ll find it in a distinctive green bottle. The beer itself is a pale lager in style, mild and easily drinkable. Doesn’t this sound like a beer after your own heart? It sounds so American! But it’s brewed in Wroclaw, the City of 100 Bridges. Browar Stu Mostów’s Halloween beer has 6.4% ABV and an IBU of 20. The base ingredients are lactose (milk sugar), roasted pumpkin, wheat malt, flaked oats, Columbus hops, and fresh coffee from Guatemala. It’s a kettle-brewed IPA. Harnaś is quite a young brand (only 15 years old), but from a well established brewery. It’s refreshing, cheap & cheerful. Okocim Poland is known as one of the biggest beer producers in Europe, so it’s not surprising that they have an extensive range of brands and styles available to everyone. In Poland, the people call beer “ piwo,” but it isn’t as popular as outside the country. This unique brand has a practice of putting the name of their staff on the label to pay homage to them.
