You brought this upon yourself when you cheated that antidote into my glass. The consequences are yours to—-” The teenagers make a deal with the other guy who was involved in the fight, Boulidazi. Boulidazi has been trying to buy shares in the acting troupe and this has been causing problems. Quit being so hard on yourself. We are what we are; we love what we love. We don't need to justify it to anyone... not even to ourselves.” That means reading through it again a second time was an interesting experience. Because now I have passed through the fiery hell that is Publishing The Second Book. I’ll give you wine, but I want you to take it with two parts water, like Malcor said. And I want you to eat tonight, everything you can. Keep your strength up—-”

I’m finding it hard to say much more about this wonderful book, as I often find to be the case with books in the middle of a series. The Republic of Thieves is everything I ever wanted it to be – a beautiful continuation of one of my favourite series, a tantalising taste of what is to come, and the perfect relief of finally meeting Sabetha. Scott Lynch has managed to push through massive pressures and personal concerns to deliver exactly what he promised. You should have had a few thousand solari to work with, Jean. Could have gone anywhere... done anything with it.” Scott Lynch's failure as an author may be that which we cannot manage; but our expectations, those are another story. Oh,” he muttered, putting a hand to his forehead as the sensations receded. “What the hell was that?”Difficult. “Difficult” and “impossible” are cousins often mistaken for one another, with very little in common.’ Am I?” There was danger in her tone. “Am I really? Why should that be exceptional? A boy may be as disagreeable as he pleases, but when a girl refuses to crap sunshine on command the world mutters darkly about her moods.” Another slight con is that the novel is heavily dependent on the previous two installments. While there are brief sections of explanation and exposition, Lynch relies on your memory of the exploits of the Gentleman Bastards to build moments of revelation and surprise. As such, readers who start with this novel will not get the full benefit of it. Look... I say, look here!” Malcor’s seamy old face grew red. “I might not have Collegium robes, but when I go to the gods they’ll know that I gave an honest damn about lending ease to my patients!”

Jean had faced many fast opponents in his life, but never one that dissolved instantly at his touch. That wasn’t human speed; it was sorcery.

Success!

Would you even have met the woman if we hadn’t intervened in your affairs? Would you have gone to sea?” Well, then.” Malcor’s knees creaked like rusty hinges as he stood up. “If I won’t scry your piss, I won’t scry your piss. I can, however, leave you with a pill that should bring you excellent relief for twelve to twenty--four hours, and perhaps encourage your depleted humors to rekindle—-” Grand, grandiose, grandiloquent . . . No critic is likely to fault Lynch in his overflowing qualities of inventiveness, audacious draftsmanship, and sympathetic characterization.” — Locus The Republic of Thieves has all the colorful action, witty repartee, and devious scheming that fans of the series have come to expect.” — Wired

Later in life, they are both assigned to Chains, and as they age, things become more complicated between them. Blessed is the one who aids a thief, hides a thief, revenges a thief, and remembers a thief, for they shall inherit the night. If you bought the Republic of Thieves, he charged you money to sell you paper with words on it that were in fact a promise of delivery for the Thorn of Emberlain when you consented to part with that which was your property. Despite giving a 3.5 stars rating, The Republic of Thieves is still a great book. The rating reflects my disappointment more than the quality of the book itself. Although this is my least favorite installment in the series so far, this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t read this book if you’re already a fan of the series. I personally think it’s amazing that Lynch was able to write three books with different settings, stories, and tones within the same series by using the same main characters. One last thing, there’s a high chance that the next book in the series, The Thorn of Emberlain, will be magnificent because The Republic of Thieves felt more or less like a setup for it to shine. If you are looking for a novel that builds on the lore and characters that came before – a novel where character relationships are just as important as clever schemes and plot – this is the book you’ve been looking for.

A fantasy world unique among its peers . . . If you’re looking for a great new fantasy series this is one you won’t want to miss. . . . In a word: AWESOME!” — SF Revu Shortly after the poison was administered,” said the physiker, “I could have tried a purgative. Or filled his stomach with milk and parchment pulp. Or bled him to thin out the venom. But this thing has been with him for too long now.In the Republic of Thieves Past, present and future walk into a bar and it IS tense. Both have things I loved and things I found wanting. I do not expect to change your mind but i hope that you will at least consider that I and others will not be buying your work because of these issues. I have be Welp. Here we are, three years later. Still no release date. Seriously. What the actual hell is going on? An update from the actual publisher would be nice.
