They are dynamic, balanced well, detailed yet not irritatingly so, but sound (to my ears) a little distant or "dark". Compared to my K701, D5000, or especially my HE-5LE, they cannot compete in resolution and sound soft in the top octave. You don't get the sense of "air" or room acoustic compared to the top headphones. Nonetheless, they still look decent. There are definitely musicians and producers who would prefer their design. Design: Bottom Line well I have a pair of HD 681 and a pair of HD 681 B (the red ones have more bass) they are really good. Additionally, you may prefer their bass-heavier sound and the way they fit over your head. At the end of the day, the choice is up to you. However, SR850 headphones were, objectively, a better deal at the end of the day. i’m planning to get these headphones but i’m a bit afraid after the Porta Pro’s colored sound i might find these a little flat.. *i love the PP’s, but they are extremely fragile and doesn’t last long. 🙁 can somebody tell me how these would sound compared to the PP’s?

Superlux HD668B Review - Reviewed

When you put them on, they just feel right. They fit well, they stay clamped over your ears, and they’re easily adaptable to anyone’s head. In my country the 681's alone cost between 7 to 12 euro more compared to thomann. The pads, somewhat the same. That’s not too shabby considering the price you’re paying. Having the two cables provided is really something I wasn’t expecting but it’s very appreciated and also a very practical addition. At this point, just seeing my first glimpse of the headphones and the two cables, I was already thinking what great value this is.but headstage is still my first priority, just that sometimes the serious handicap on bass on K702 is making me wanting it more. is HD600 a better choice than 650 if i wanted more LF and still able to listen to orchestra music?

I am going to let these burn-in for the next week or so using my burn-in files and see what happens. I hope the treble energy subsides along with the bass a bit and the mid-range opens up. If they don't change a lot though I think they may be a nice switch up from the warm sounding QNN headphone. Is Superlux 668B good when paired with a PA2V2 amplifier? Also how is HD 668B compared to HD 681B and Samson R850. Any other headphones in the similar price rangeThe N650 shares a similar treble to the HD668B, which is crisp and airy. Its soundstage is not as wide but it does have more depth and superior imaging. I'm running them with an Oppo universal player and SACD's/DVD-A's through a Purity Audio K.I.C.A.S. headphone amp (all-discrete, no op amps). Comfort is better on the 661. Sound quality, the 661 is better suited for music, where the 668B has a dryer but more articulate sound that would be better for monitoring. The 661 is a little warmer on the mids and bass, and has a fuller mid section. The treble is similar in tone to the 668B, but less dry. They aren’t easily adjustable, so that can present additional problems. They’re not much flexible either, so we’d say that, overall, HD668B headphones aren’t really your most portable option. Portability: Bottom Line

Superlux HD668B Review (headphone) | Audio Science Review

Some time ago I tried foobar just to see what was it about but it didnt work much for me, it has somehow clustered UI, but maybe I will try it again. Or just use the winamps EQ. I already have Beyer DT880 pro here, and loving it! But I’m still looking for secondary phones that have good technicality and good for analytical listening, such as AKG K701. Will this superlux suit me? Thanks mate! 😀 The AD700 is quite special with its entry level Audio Technica signature, and although it's not my favorite phone, I think the AD700 is still superior to the HD668B.That being said, there are some things that stand out that should give you pause. For example, the way Superlux granted its HD668B the ability to have removable cables is certainly a head-scratcher, as a male connection on a wire is much more susceptible to breakage than the more common female connection in the housing. Additionally, they include a clip to hold the cable and the connection together, but that just puts even more pressure on the weakest point of the headphones in the event of a tug. guy behind me at work is wearing Senn HD555 and I never hear him. We’re probably talking along the sames lines then I guess. Also from looking at these are they fairly large?

The HD668B is a great headphone for the price, and I’m glad if more people are discovering it. But I still think that it’s not yet at the level to compete with the K701 (though the K701 do have many weaknesses of its own). I think something like the Ultrasone Pro900 will give you the headstage and the bass that you want. As you know, they do come with the S-Logic feature which is a love/hate thing, but I do think that the Pro900 is one of the best among Ultrasone's line. It should also work well with Orchestra. Well, I said I'd sell it…but I didn't. The other day I went for an audio show featuring the HD600 and HD800 with their house amp. Either this is the Sennheiser "sound" or the headphones aren't broken in…I was surprised by how I disliked the Sennheisers, even the HD800. There's little clarity – a warmish kind of sound. Just like how I wasn't impressed by the HD650 at a meet. They sound like hi-fi no doubt, but their balance doesn't compare as well as the Superlux. I already have the U100 and I’m really happy with it. For 50-60s jazz I use Creative Aurvana Live! (sound a bit like Denon D2000, in case you don’t know them). I’m going to use Superlux with piano, organ and string music, and some of the really well recorded jazz albums. Electronic and Dance (especially dance) tend to be very treble happy. The HD668B likewise has a lot of treble. It’s not going to be nice combining the two.And with an EQ in the equation, you're bound to get pretty much the same results regardless of your choice. Thanks for a great reply. I kind of excluded the F version from the start, but still cannot decide between the classic 681 and B version. I excluded the F mainly because as you pointed out, the treble "which in the F model only becomes more dominant."
