According to the producers at Silvergate Media, attempts are being made to have Above & Beyond return to public television airings. Barnacles is the brave polar bear captain of the Octonauts. He knows how to drive any vehicle and is strong enough to lift a giant clam. Catchphrases: "Octonauts, let's do this", "Sound the Octo-Alert!", "Octonauts, to the launch bay!" and "Hold on, this could get bumpy". The Terra-Gup 8 is a large land-based Gup introduced in Octonauts: Above & Beyond Season 3. It made it's debut on August 10th in Korea and on October 16th on CBeebies (BBC iPlayer). It currently only features in 1 episode (special), The Kilimanjaro Climb. A sea otter who speaks with a Scottish accent. Dr. Shellington is a biologist who assists the Octonauts on missions. He is not a very good driver and once crashed the GUP-D. Catchphrase: "Jumping jellyfish!" and "Fascinating". A small all-purpose vehicle with expandable legs, a horn similar to that of a rhinoceros beetle, "super-gripper" feet, and wings.

Paani is a Macaque Monkey who joins the Octonauts as an Octo-agent in the first episode of Above and Beyond. He is a hydrologist who studies how water affects all kinds of beings. He is brave and daring, and also impulsive, similar to Kwazii. He gets off on the wrong foot with Kwazii, though, because Kwazii is the one who catches him trying to steal supplies from the team to help animals suffering from a drought. This is the first Terra-Gup that has a sole purpose of flying, though the Terra-Gup 1 can sort of fly (glide), the TG-6 can fly efficiently for longer distances. It also features a rescue/grappler line, which lowers from the front-most tip of the Terra-Gup. Other creatures that were introduced in the original series also make appearances in the series, with some even getting their own episodes. So far the only ones to do so, are The Invasive Species (With the exception of the Burmese Python) Spiny Sue the catfish, and Ronnie, Donnie and Lonnie the Monitor Lizards, from The Great Swamp Search, who all appear in The Monitor Lizards, and Phil the baby flamingo in The Nine Banded Armadillo. In this new show, there is an increased focus on exploring locations across the globe and helping creatures above the sea, in contrast to the original show. Another addition is the gained assistance of reoccurring characters from the new “Octo-Agents” branch, such as Min the Mapmaker and newcomers Paani and Selva. Almost all previously introduced friends and family of the Octonauts have been recruited as Octo-Agents, sporting new watches that can signal an Octo-Alert, amongst other helpful features. The new series also introduces the concept of " Terra Gups", which are Gups exclusively for land adventures.Octonauts: Above & Beyond debuted on September 7, 2021, on Netflix. Dashi, Tweak, and Peso help a lone monarch butterfly rejoin his swarm, but a tornado threatens to derail the migration to Mexico.These are the Octonauts that were in the original series, including the captain. The Terra-Gup 6 is a Terra Gup that is featured in the Octonauts spin-off Octonauts: Above & Beyond. The TG-6 first appears in Above & Beyond Season 3. With its debut in the first episode: The Pininga Turtle. Unlike the original show, Above & Beyond’s merchandising comes from Moose Toys, known best for their successful Bluey line of figures and plush toys. Unlike the original that originally aired on Disney Junior in America, Above and Beyond does not air on that channel, due to Disney not purchasing the show with a US dub. The show airs on television on CBeebies, respectively like the original series. This Terra-Gup can perform various movements, as shown in its debut episode, such as the ‘dart maneuver’. It also has a flutter mode, which is really a stall/hovering control, just like its inspiration. This Terra-Gup is based of a hummingbird, therefore can fly at extremely high speeds. When flying at high speeds, a shiny, luminous turquoise trail appears from the end of the Terra-Gup. The Terra-Gup has 2 seats, both with their own set of controls with an Octo-Alert button. It has a protective glass cover that spans around the center of the Terra-Gup, this is to keep the driver(s) dry when used in rain and/or snow.

The series also drops the original show's format of having just Barnacles, Kwazii and Peso go out on missions. Instead, the series now has a group of usually 2-3 of the Octonauts go out to help whichever Octo-Agent sounded the Octo Alert. Some episodes, however, can have almost entire crew go out on one mission, though this occurrence is rare. Due to this, many episodes completely exclude the presence of certain Octonauts, and in the first season it was common for Captain Barnacles and Kwazii in particular to barely attend missions at all. A second season was released May 2, 2022 on Netflix. The special double episode in this season is "The Octonauts and the Rainforest Rescue", which will focus on a rescuing a baby eaglet.
