There were a lot of tropes played out in this book: best friends brother, forced proximity, enemies to lovers, sports romance. They all worked well together.

Fair Catch | Kandi Steiner

Riley was so insensitive towards him, and it really made me dislike her. Then my dislike for her started compounding... the way she handled the accident; then how Riley handled the whole essay issue that she was partially to blame for. And of course, in true Kandi fashion, we got some deliciously hot steam. Their emotional relationship—the breaking down of pain and trauma, the struggles, the frustrations—all builds into intense sexual tension and chemistry which then explodes in the best way possible. Kandi is the kind of author that can take all of that and turn it into something beautiful. AND HOT. Seriously, brace for the heat. Riley and Zeke grew up together, and he is her brothers best friend. She had the biggest crush on him until an accident that paralysed her twin. Riley couldn't forgive him, but she made a pinky promise to Gavin to play football because he no longer could. Enemies to lovers, college sports romance, brother’s best friend, forced proximity… these are a few of my favorite troupes! Put them all together and you get an epic romance book from Kandi Steiner!i liked them a lot as separate people but the rushed relationship made me fall out of love with the entire plot line. and the conflict in the end was good, but i wasn’t sad enough when they broke up? i just didn’t care. There’s risk in every decision we make,” Clay said. “You just have to decide which risk is worth taking.

I didn't always love Riley. I thought occasionally she could be... kind of a bitch for no reason. I often felt sorry for Zeke for the way she treated him. I also think the conflict at the end of the book actually wasn't that big of a deal and didn't warrant her reaction at all, so I found it difficult not to find her a little bit ridiculous.A friends to enemies to lovers? A cheeky bit of forced proximity? Some delicious steam? A little dose of “I think I kind of love when you hate me” and “I don’t want casual. I want more.”? I love you,” I mouthed, careful not to say it in case anyone should overhear. But I said the next part out loud. “And I believe in you. You can do this.” I squeezed her hand before letting it go, but not before repeating, “You can do this.” Tropes/content: Sports romance (football), roommates, forced proximity, brother's best friend/best friend's sister, college, friends to dislike to lovers I stepped into him, my chest bumping his rib cage. His eyes slipped to where my modest cleavage was visible, one eyebrow arching at the sight, and that made me narrow my eyes even more.
