Description

If you’re like me, you’re probably craving some medium roasted coffee now after reading this article, correct? Blonde roast is also sometimes referred to as light roast. It’s a lighter roasted coffee compared to others on this list. Due to not being roasted as long as other blends on this list, the blonde roast is dense compared to dark roasts. It is somewhere in between, which makes it perfect for those who want to experience that rich flavor of dark roasted coffees while still remaining light enough, so it’s easy on the palate. Medium roast on the left, dark roast on the right. Light roasts tend to have a specific flavor profile, which you need to love to enjoy thoroughly. And on the other side, the darker roasts tend to have a fuller flavor that isn’t always enjoyable for everyday use.

A single (small) contains about 63 mg of caffeine on average, and double (large) contains about 125 mg. Instant Coffee Light roasts will have a light body with subtle flavors, while dark roasts can have an oily body that can mask some flavors. As you can see, there are plenty of different coffee roasts to choose from with new roasts and blends being created almost daily. To determine which coffee you like best, you’ll want to try the options that interest you then narrow down which ones are your favorites. We spoke with Giorgio Milos, master barista and coffee expert for illy, to learn more about the roasting process, what the different types of roasts mean, and which roast pairs best with each brewing method. Medium roast roasts end up having more of a medium brown color when finished brewing. They also have more of a body to the cup compared to light roasts. This just means it’s a little less clear of the light. Similar to light roast, medium roast beans don’t have oil on them. Even though there is a similarity between the oil you’ll see on the beans, there are a few differences between the two.

Micro-lot single-origin coffee beans are even more localized: they usually refer to a single field at the farm or a small range of altitudes. Light roast coffees are the most acidic, while dark roasts are less so. Medium roasts normally have an even level of acidity. Body You've probably never heard someone say “I only drink medium roast coffee.” We mostly hear of light roast lovers and dark roast devotees. Meanwhile, there's a totally delicious and distinct coffee in the middle waiting to be experienced.Once again, medium roasted coffee tastes its best when it is brewed in a French press, and that preparation method provides for some of the finest tasting medium roasts out there. Fair Trade Certified means that the beans were ethically sourced from the farmers who grew them, no matter their income level. The idea behind this certification is that the farmers are paid fairly for their product. Rainforest Alliance Certified Coffee roasting is the process of turning green coffee beans into brown ones. The easiest way to tell different roasts apart is by looking at the color and texture of the roasted coffee beans. Although espresso has more caffeine per volume than regular coffee, it usually contains less per serving, since espresso servings tend to be small.
