Then came the ultimate test: time. Sure, a stone mat may perform well on its first use but how does it hold up after a week or month? We made sure all our options were as good on day 30 as they were on day 1 before recommending them. We also looked at price, design options and whether each mat had an anti-slip bottom or mat to keep it in place, along with a sanding tool for regular maintenance. FAQ How do you clean a stone bath mat? The bathroom isn’t the only place you need to keep dry, so why not go for the Me Mother Earth Stone Bath Mat? It comes with a floor mat and a bonus soap dish that can be used on your bathroom or kitchen sink. When you think of an absorbent bath mat, the first material that comes to mind probably isn’t stone. How can a bath mat made out of stone be functional and safe? The answer: diatomaceous earth. Diatomite is a very porous, lightweight, and crumbly stone substance that can be found in both marine and freshwater systems. “Stone bath mats are an aesthetically appealing, low-maintenance choice that gives any bathroom a crisp, clean, spa-like feel,” says Cindy Tadie, residential designer at Kathy Adams Furniture & Design in Dallas, Texas. They’re fast becoming popular in many luxury bathrooms across America, largely thanks to their sleek look and highly absorbent, porous properties.

If you have a large or uniquely laid out space that you want to cover, the Dorai Large Bath Stone is the customizable solution you need. This bath mat is over double the size of many others on our list, allowing it to cover a similar amount of space to a bath rug. Even better, it can be laid out in a variety of different configurations, since it’s actually four individual stones. Lay it out in a traditional rectangle shape, or lay the tiles side by side to make a slim, long layout. Alternatively, you could also lay it out in an L-shape or separate the tiles to cover two different areas altogether, making this the most customizable choice on the list. The removable non-slip plastic base keeps the Drying Stone firmly in place and comes away easily when it’s time to clean your Drying Stone – just press down on the part of the stone that’s visible through the ‘push to remove’ window on the base. The Drying Stone can then be either washed by hand or popped in the dishwasher for easy cleaning, before being placed outside in the sun to help it dry. The Lofter Stone Bath Mat features a tasteful and elegant design that provides optimal traction for wet feet and fully absorbs water in seconds, making it a safe and beautiful addition to any bathroom or entryway. Available in two color choices, this is a durable all-natural alternative to damp and bacteria-laden cloth mats that will blend well with a variety of different color schemes. As you might expect, stone bath mats are typically left in their all-natural color state, so you’ll find them ranging in colors from white to dark grey. These muted tones give a modern, spa-like feel to any room, and tend to blend inconspicuously with a variety of decor styles and color schemes, from traditional to modern, boho-style bathrooms, and more. Unlike most other stone bath mats, this one can be machine washed (for smaller messes or stains, you can just clean it with a damp cloth). It’s lightweight enough to easily move around the house or hang up to get out of the way. This model does provide a somewhat less luxurious feel than some other more solidly constructed mats, however. It’s also less durable and long-lasting. Also, if you’re looking for a larger bath mat that will run the length of your tub or shower door, this one may fall a bit short. The Momo Lifestyle stone mat is pricier than other stone mats but we think it’s worth the investment. You can always try it out for 30 days and return it if you don’t like it.

The Norpro Microfiber Dish Drying Mat earns the top spot on our list, thanks to its super absorbent material, functional size, and hang loop for effortless drying. If you think a dish drying mat will make your life easier, this one is sure to do the job. Dish drying mats are perfectly sanitary as long as you maintain them properly. That means making sure dishes are completely clean before placing them on the mat and cleaning the mat regularly and drying it completely before storing it. Skipping any of these steps could result in mold or mildew on your drying mat. Diatomite has a high silica content, ranging from 80% to 90%. This makes it a valuable material for a wide range of applications. Diatomite is known for its excellent absorbent properties due to its highly porous structure. It has a large surface area, allowing it to absorb liquids and gases effectively. As a result, diatomite is commonly used as a filtering and purifying agent in water and beverage treatment, swimming pool filtration, and various industrial processes. The Momo mats live up to their “grande” name and keep every inch of my floors dry. I would’ve liked to see some sort of design as you see on other stone bath mats, but it’s still pleasant to step on after a hot (or cold) shower. The water also took a bit longer than other mats to evaporate, but not that much longer. We know, stone bath mats sound uncomfortable, but they’re one of the best things you could put in your bathroom. These mats are made with diatomaceous earth, which is the ground-up skeletons of sea organisms, such as plankton. At Dorai, we have an unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of design. Our collection of coordinated kitchen accessories, including matching kitchen accessories, is thoughtfully designed to embody a modern aesthetic that's not only efficient but also eco-friendly. At Dorai, sustainability isn't just a word, it's a way of life. That's why our eco-conscious kitchen accessories stand as a testament to our dedication to preserving our planet. We firmly believe that choosing environmentally friendly home kitchen accessories should never mean compromising on style or function. Many people think of a dishwasher as a must-have kitchen appliance. But according to a 2017 survey by the US Energy Information Administration, only about 68 percent of American households have a dishwasher — and close to 20 percent of those use it less than once a week. That means that on most days, many of us are getting our hands sudsy and scrubbing away grease, grime, and crumbs. Stone mats may also feature fun, swirly designs built into them that help to add traction and increase their anti-slip properties. However, some users complain that these designs can be tough on bare feet, so if you have sensitive soles, consider a mat that’s free of any embellishments and is strictly made from smooth, soothing stone. Be careful though, as these mats tend to be slightly less “grippy” than ones that are patterned.

Even though the dish pad is on the larger side and made with more solid materials, you can still store it easily thanks to the foldable tri-panel design. Looking at the price, you may wonder if it’s really worth it, but keep in mind that you can dry your produce on the dish pad too, giving it even more value. One thing to prepare yourself for though is that if stains appear, you’ll either have to do some sanding or use bleach or hydrogen peroxide to get them out. Stone bath mats can be wiped with a dry mat. It’s a good idea to sand them down with a sanding tool or sandpaper every now and then to remove any spots. You should also keep your stone bath mat away from direct sunlight to avoid warping. Are stone bath mats worth it? While this mat is a great choice for bathrooms, you can also use it as a dish-drying mat or to put your pet’s food bowls on. While it is a little more on the expensive side, its solid construction and multiple color choices make it well worth the added investment. One thing to note: this mat does tend to bow or warp initially, but after several uses, it will settle down into a flat mat. Dish drying mats are most commonly made from either microfiber or silicone. Microfiber drying mats work by absorbing the water, while silicone drying mats work by elevating the dishes from the water residue. Some prefer microfiber because they provide a protective cushion (not just for your dishes but also your countertop) and can be cleaned in the washing machine. Others like silicone because there’s less concern with bacteria growth and unpleasant odors. You can also find dish drying mats made with diatomaceous earth, like the Dorai Home Dish Pad, which helps evaporate moisture and prevent bacteria growth. In the realm of accessories for kitchens, Dorai offers a wide array of eco-friendly kitchen products that redefine your culinary space. Design and color: Just like almost any other home product, design will weigh into your decision. While most stone bath mats come in neutral colors, such as gray or white, there are also options that deliver a pop of color and standout patterns. As a 6-foot, 3-inch tall man with broad shoulders, I found the floor mat to be a little too small for me (water got onto the floor), but my 5-foot, 4-inch girlfriend has no such issues when using it. But what I want to talk about is the soap dish mat—I’ve noticed my counters are much cleaner since using it, and I wish the company sold these individually because I’d put them all over my house. A well-sized dish drying mat strikes the balance between fitting enough dishes without taking up a ton of space. We think the sweet spot is around 16 inches by 18 inches, but you may look for a bigger option if you’re cooking for a big family or a smaller size, depending on your counter space. The only downside: There's no loop for air-drying the mat completely, so you may need to pop it in the dryer or lay it over a hanger. Silicone mats, meanwhile, are the harder mats. Often flexible and easy to roll up and stow away in a drawer or cabinet, silicone mats do not absorb water the same way microfiber mats do. However, they often feature raised ridges that prevent condensation on the underside of overturned bowls, for example, which may help speed up the drying time. Silicone mats also have the added benefit of being able to be used as trivets to hold hot plates and pans. Momo Lifestyle’s Large Stone Bath Mat lives up to its name with a 32-inch-by-20-inch footprint, much larger than traditional stone mats that usually measure 24 inches by 15 inches. Whether you’re a larger person or you’re just looking to cover a large area, you can trust that every square inch will remain dry.
