Safetots bed side rails are designed to prevent children from falling out of bed while they sleep, and are safety tested in accordance with today's current safety standards. Another option similar to the Shrunks is the Sunnyglade Portable Bed Rail. Made of durable PVC, this bed rail is water resistant and easy to clean. It fits underneath the bedsheet and is held in place by grip strips on the bottom of the bed rail. An epoxy, paint or plastic finish provides a warmer feel to rails, is hard wearing and will reduce the effects of condensation. A choice of colour allows for a colour contrast with the wall for users with low vision or for co-ordination of bathroom accessories. You don't have to physically buy the goods in person. If your parent, guardian or wife or husband buys the goods and services for you, then you won't be charged VAT. What counts as personal or domestic use? A rail can be fixed horizontally to the wall 75-100mm above the bath rim (see dimension c in diagram). It should start 200mm from the tap end of the bath (dimension a) (COT 2006 p13, H M Government 2015, p58, diagram 26).

A polished or chrome finish is attractive and hard wearing but can be quite slippery to hold, especially when hands are wet. The portable bed rails are very good at staying in place, giving you the confidence of knowing that they’ll actually be there if your child needs them.If you are very unstable when standing and you find it difficult to bear your own weight, simple grab rails may not be the most suitable answer for you. You may need more support to help you. Likewise, if you have very poor grip, or significant pain in your hands, arms or shoulders. Plus it’s helpful to get a sense of how the bed rails work and if they are going to be a good option for your child. Bed guards and bed rails are not designed specifically for double beds although some bed guards are suitable. If your double bed has an extra deep mattress you may wish to consider investing in an extra tall and extra wide bed rail . This is considered the most suitable and safest bed guard for double beds. An extra tall bed rail will provide you with additional height and therefore greater safety for your child. Some have a support leg which rests down on the floor when the rail is horizontal. Some models provide a single horizontal rail which provides support at one height; others consist of a looped rail which provides two alternative gripping positions. Some of these rails have a built-in toilet roll holder.

When choosing a bed guard or rail for your double bed, firstly measure the depth of your mattress. If your mattress is extra deep, then an extra tall bed guard will be more suitable. These bed rails will achieve a greater height above a deep mattress. Secondly, an extra wide bed rail will cover a greater length of the bed and will work well on double and king size beds. Most grab rails are permanently fixed in one position onto the wall, floor, ceiling, or a combination. When fitted securely and correctly they should be able to cope with the push/pull forces of repeated use. text": "Bed rails are suitable for cot beds and toddler beds and provide the safest solution for toddlers making the transition from a cot to a bed. A bed rail provides the safety of a cot by preventing your toddler from falling out of their bed yet provides them with their first steps to independence as they can climb out of bed once they wake. Our stair gates and room dividers will prevent them from entering any unsafe areas of the home once they're out of bed. You can install one of our screw fit safety gates at the top of the stairs to keep your little one safe. The DreamyPanda bumper can be used as a bed guard by placing it on the edge of the bed under the fitted sheet or can be placed between you and your little one for peaceful co-sleeping. One thing that sets this bumper apart from its competitors is its machine-washable, easy-zip bamboo fabric cover - bamboo fabric is one of the softest fabrics in the world. Also, this bumper is not inflatable so there's no need for a pump, but it conveniently folds down and also comes with a travel bag so you'll be able to take it on your travels or sleepovers.

These bed rails can also be used as a divider between kids who are sharing the same bed. Our kids tend to move around a lot while sleeping. When they share a bed it often ends with one child rolling on top of the other and then both of them waking up screaming. Not fun for anyone. Putting a bed rail in between children in the middle of the bed can help to keep them on their own side and prevent any middle of the night wakeups. Tips for using bed rails for toddlers during travel As a general guide there are two options for wall mounted rails by the toilet. If you have the same strength on both sides of your body it may be a good idea to have supports fixed on both sides of the toilet so that you can use both arms. Before positioning your bed guard, it is important to ensure you are fitting a suitable bed rail for the bed and mattress intended. With all bed rails and child bed guards, it is recommended that there is at least a clear 25cm gap between each end of the bed and the bed rail. Suction grab rails attach to a smooth surface by forming a strong suction grip at each end. Some manufacturers state that they are not weight-bearing and are only intended to assist with balance. Others do not clearly state this, but give a weight limit for safe use. You are advised to read any guidance and seek further clarification if needed before you use these rails. They are highlighted as portable for visits and holidays. If you are struggling with caring for yourself, or your carer is struggling to provide care for you, consider asking for a health and social care needs assessment. Since the Care Act 2014 (Great Britain. Parliament 2014) came into power in April 2015, anyone who appears to need care and support can request an assessment from their local council, irrespective of their income or savings. The Act also places a statutory duty on local authorities and the NHS to support individuals to take steps to prevent their ill health or care requirements from getting worse. These strategies for prevention can include the early provision of equipment and services to help prevent, delay or reduce the development of further need for care and support, which would include the provision and fitting of grab rails depending on the cost.
