his obsession with whether Braxton was a virgin or not was so nauseating. his sexism continuously jumped out. and then when he found out about Braxton’s sex addiction, he low-key fetishised it, saying “nothing sounded sweeter” then Braxton being a “nympho”🥴 and then didn’t believe she had a sex addiction... i– what?? i loved the second half of the book when their friendship began to heal itself. seeing their true brotherhood without all of the hatred was really sweet and fun. they would ruin themselves for each other, it was raw and damaged, dirty and ugly. but in the end they did everything they could to fix the broken pieces of themselves and each other... with the help of their dark rebel, Braxton. Starting Lilac I was really curious about the type of dynamic the characters were going to have towards one another. I haven't read many reverse-harems but I know authors all have their own unique way of taking on this trope so I was very intrigued to see BB’s approach. Basically the plot in this is both very sparse and half of that sparse plot is questionable at best. My FAVOURITE thing about this story is the depiction of how three men who have never shared a woman before can organically grow into a polyamorous relationship. At the start of the book, Houston, Jericho, and Loren are on the verge of breaking up: their relationships have splintered, they hate each other, and Bound is the only thing keeping together. But slowly they patch up their connection thanks to Braxton. The bulk of the word count is devoted to them transitioning from one-on-one relationships to entering a proper polyamorous relationship, and I like that this is done slowly and realistically.Pay settlements in recent years have been low. It is many years since staff in schools, further education or higher education received a pay increase which was equal to the rate of inflation. Falling pay

This book is pink and purple sunsets, blue skies full of fluffy clouds. It’s kissing in the rain. It’s summer days. It’s nights on the front porch with sweet tea (I’m a southern girl). This book is butterflies taking flight! —It’s a field of Lilacs.

NOT BB, it's like it was perfectly choreographed symphony of passions. I was there watching them like a voyeur. Discovering the problems that these characters have with each other, how they will solve those problems, and the history with each of them is incredibly enjoyable. I couldn’t put this book down and just wanted to read through the entire thing in one sitting. Linked to the above: this is a very long, about 170k words. But I think this is a great length. I didn't find that it dragged at all, and actually if it had been any shorter this would have done a disservice to the story being told.

What was for me exaggerated and grotesque in her previous books that I read was repeated here as well. Scattered and unfounded plot. Ridiculously childish and dramatic characters. Omg this book was so different from BB's Fear Me series (which is probably one of the first series I read in the bully genre which got me hooked to that trope). Braxton was invited to join the band Bound to replace their guitarist who died of an overdose. Not only did she have to prove herself to the band musically that she could keep up with their iconic status, but also shine as her own person. Braxton is a badass who I can relate to on many levels. Her family is cult-like religious and there are major troubles within the community she was raised in. Her past is one that leaves her often feeling guilty for living her life how she wants to. She is incredibly strong and harnesses that strength throughout the book. Five years ago, I would have jumped off a cliff, confident that my best friends would magically sprout wings and catch me before I fell. Now I wouldn’t so much as cross the street without my own two eyes to guide me. Loren would probably push me in front of a bus just because it’s Tuesday.

and i love this book. now was everything about this book ALL RAINBOWS AND SUNSHINE like I’m making it out to be? No. But that’s exactly how I feel about this book!! Yes, this book touches on dark topics and subject matter. But I’m speaking on how I feel, how I felt while reading this. —and my experience was that I was living in Technicolor!

Lilac was so much more than I ever expected. Since it is a true Reverse Harem, I had some assumptions, but I never expected the heart and depth that accompanied the heat factor of Lilac. It tore at my heart, it made me remember the perseverance and healing power of real love, and it epitomizes that it comes in all shapes and sizes. Happiness in life, living with love in your heart is all that matters. This is an odd book, because the bits I liked I REALLY liked and the bits I hated I really HATED. Hence the three stars. On balance, I'm glad I read it and I do recommend it, but I'm going to try and scrub the bits I don't like from my memory. I rarely buy ebooks unless they are cheaply priced or on sale. I also very rarely buy physical copies of books. I’m a bit of a minimalist so I have to absolutely adore a book to buy a physical copy that will be proudly displayed in my home. but these three were falling apart— on the brink of collapse, these three life-long best friends were hanging on by the skin of their teeth with Braxton’s arrival either making or breaking them. they wanted to make each other bleed. they trash rooms as they fought. flashing their teeth and throwing barbs at one another that cut deep. it made for an even more enthralling dynamic. Braxton still flounders and fumbles. she wears a smirk but it often slips and her vulnerabilities are stark and fierce. she would have the trio by their throats one minute, while being their little plaything the next. the dynamic between her and guys was forever changing— she didn’t always have the upper hand, and by doing so, the author explored her flaws, limits and imperfections.
