For the added durability and chemical resistance of an epoxy resin, there is DRYLOK® E1 Latex 1‑Part Epoxy Concrete Floor Paint. It goes on just as easily as paint and is also an all-in-one paint and primer. There’s no need to mix strong-smelling components, as it comes ready to apply, and it is available in two popular grays and atint base for more options to choose from. My advice would be to follow the usual prep for decorating interior walls before applying 2 to 3 coats, depending on what the finish looks like once the second coat has dried. Again, look for something with a biocide to prevent fungal degradation. Exterior Concrete and Masonry In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about waterproofing paint— what it is, which product features you should look for, how it’s applied and more! Let’s dive right in!

Painting floors with high-quality commercial or industrial coatings is much more cost effective and less disruptive to a project than using cheaper substitutes. Larger projects require some form of ‘guarantee’ for the client and/or building owner to provide peace of mind that the coating system applied to internal or external flooring will last for an agreed period of time - if correctly maintained.Tanking Slurry Powder / Tanking Solution – apply this cement based tanking slurry, then render with sand and cement. Fences, garden furniture or exterior wooden doors, it’s pretty unanimous in the decorating world which waterproof paint we’d choose if we could! Sandtex Flexigloss (or Flexisatin if you want less of a sheen) is hands down one of the most durable waterproof paints with a stated guaranteed 10-year durability, although many tradesmen will tell you it could easily last longer than this before it’s in need of maintenance. Perfect for homes with condensation issues as it will resist the buildup of mould which commonly occurs in damp rooms. We have a range of paints designed to combat damp, and a comprehensive blog on rising damp which explains the healing process. If you’re suffering from mould, mildew or condensation issues in your cellar or garage, a good quality waterproof paint for concrete will go a long way. And for this occasion, we would highly recommend Zinsser Watertite.

Floor to wall Joint Seal – cut out the gap to at least 25mm x 25mm and fill with a waterproof mortar. However, if you want the enhanced protection of epoxy, try a 1‑part epoxy latex garage floor paint, which has alatex base with the additional component of epoxy resin for added durability. Not only is it easy to apply, but cleanup is abreeze. One of the most common waterproofing coatings for exterior walls is waterproof masonry paint. This comes in a variety of chemistries, including thermal shielding and pliolite options, and protects masonry from water and weather. It prevents water seeping into walls from the outside, but does not affect water in the walls from damp. There are also clear waterproof paints based on nanotechnology, which seal the wall against water. These only provide temporary protection, however.

Several types of waterproofing paint are available, each with unique properties and applications. Some of the most common types include: Acrylic Waterproofing Paint

Next apply a layer of Waterproof Coating with a separate paint brush to your walls that require tape such as corners, tray or floor junctions etc. Step 3 Another essential part of preparing the floor is making sure that the surface is fully acid etched. You can use etch as the cleaning solution, as well; however, it is important that the surface has the feel of course sandpaper so the coating has something to adhere to. Breathable– The membrane of the waterproof paint should be breathable to prevent the build up of damp and water pressure within a substrate. Allowing water vapour to permeate the membrane does not encourage damp, but does encourage stability. Regularly inspect the surface for any signs of damage or wear and tear. Clean the surface regularly to prevent the buildup of dirt and debris. If you’re looking to waterproof the exterior of your home and achieve an aesthetically pleasing look that will actually last for years, Mathys Murfill is the one for you.

Firstly, you need to determine if the damp is from the wall, floor, or from the humidity of the space. Peeling wallpaper or crumbling plaster is a clear sign of damp, as is dampness in the skirting board. You also need to find the source of the damp – is it a leak, rising damp, poor insulation? If you do not fix the cause, you will be fighting damp forever. If the skirting board is affected you will need to remove the skirting, treat the wall behind it, then replace it. A waterproof paint for interior walls such as an acrylic will also work against humidity. If the exterior walls of your home need waterproofing, there are some ESSENTIALS you should be looking for from your product: Once you are confident that the walls and floors have dried — we recommend waiting afull 24hours — all you have to do to start enjoying your new garage floor is to reintroduce your belongings.
