That is, it COULD have been a balanced story perfect for both boys and girls, except that Arthur does all the narrating. Les jumeaux Brightstorm apprennent qu'ils ont tout perdu après les revers de leur père parti en exploration.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.Registered office address: Unit 34 Vulcan House Business Centre, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EF. Tom, Lucy and big sister Charlie were completely taken in by her exciting sky ship stories full of action, peril and touching family moments. As the sky-ship sets sail, the twins must keep their wits about them if they are to uncover the truth about what happened on their father’s doomed expedition, and to prove themselves worthy explorers. Probably because this is the exact kind of book I would have glommed onto when I was in the target age range to begin with.

Officially a middle-grade fantasy, Brightstorm was a fun, rousing adventure so long as I didn’t overanalyze it. We also have a whole load of side characters, like Harriet Culpepper, Felicity Wiggety and Eudora Vane. Harriet Culpepper gives the reader one of the most valuable lessons in life when she reminds her crew members that whilst reaching the goal is important they must not forget to enjoy the journey. Bronnie is so lovely with the boys and we also felt that having a man enthusing about the books set a great example.C'est clairement une descente en enfer pour Maudie et Arthur habitués à une existence stimulante et confortable. Brightstorm has quickly become one of my all-time favourites, and it's one I'll read again with great joy.

But the further Gan travels, the more secrets are revealed - and the more she questions everything she believes. Our own twins, Tom and Lucy, both devoured Brightstorm and have found an unusual, lasting connection with the characters – much more so than with other novels they’ve read.

With his death and the children now orphaned, Arthur and Maudie are thrust from a life of comfort, to one of destitution. At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills. So when they get the opportunity to go on an expedition south, they jump at the chance to fulfill a life long dream and maybe even find their father, or at the very least, find out the truth of what happened on that trip.

If you're at all animal-obsessed like I am, then you'll appreciate Parthena, the hawk that belonged to Brightstorm's father, and the thought-wolves that are also discovered along their journey. For our twins, this book provides a mirror of their own world with a relationship they understand so well. I haven't charted out my visits for the summer term, but I'm sure there are several in the south) and thanks so much for being so fantastic! The storyline is gripping and the pages just kept turning, and there was a mild panic when I misplaced it on the evening I was going to finish it. as they hardly featured at all considering how long the twins were travelling with them and how fascinating their professions. Now, if you like exciting novels that tell it like it is, feature dark overtones that blur the lines between what’s right and wrong—maybe skip this.
