Phillips is really controlling. She claims not to like office politics, but she gets pissed off whenever her boss tries to help with ideas she admits are good, because it wasn’t *her* idea. Doesn’t really help me like the MC. This unsparing drama continues to be brilliantly sustained by its leading lights: Andrew Ellis as extremist-turned-inside-man Robbie Mullen and the extraordinary Stephen Graham (playing Matthew Collins). Tonight, Collins takes Mullen into his own home as the thugs of National Action get twitchy. Phil Harrison Question Team 10pm, Dave Part of the reason Deadly Obsession turned out to be one of my favorites of the series is the plot itself and the serial killer. Talk about an original take on a serial killer! I loved the references to the past (I recognized more than one name as I do love my true crime as well) and how everything was incorporated into the story... The plot development and investigation itself were entertaining to follow, and I liked the building up of suspense and how the plot twists were incorporated into the plot. I thoroughly enjoyed Deadly Obsession which is a compulsive read with a clever perpetrator. It doesn’t add anything new or revolutionary to the genre, but it’s a well done and engrossing example of it. It is told mostly from Jane Phillips’s point of view, although the killer gets plenty of exposure too. He is named, his motive is explained and there is enough detail about his life to make him appear an unlikely killer. Normally this is enough to put me off a novel, but in this case, strangely, it seems to make the novel more compulsive as the questions swirl - how much truth is he telling, is his motive as he says, how does he stay in front of the hunt for him? To get these answers there was no choice but to keep reading as fast as possible. You may also opt to downgrade to Standard Digital, a robust journalistic offering that fulfils many user’s needs. This series has glimpses of goodness. I can’t stop reading them even though I always find myself disappointed. Never fully disappointed. I would like to thank Netgalley and Inkubator Books for an advance copy of Deadly Obsession, the fifth novel to feature DCI Jane Phillips of the Greater Manchester Major Crimes Unit. The body of a naked woman is discovered in a Manchester park. Her murder has all the hallmarks of a notorious killer known as the Suffolk Strangler. But there’s a problem – the Strangler is serving a life sentence in prison.Viv was okay. I neither liked nor disliked her. She was very average to me. I thought when she mentioned her dream proposal and everything that the author was going to have Aiden do some serious romantic stuff when he realized he loved her. Nope. Nothing. They basically have so much sex they fall in love. They filmed LMN’s You Can Never Go Home Again in Clinton, Mississippi. Bobby shared, “We had a great time filming in Clinton too last year. it was cold, but it was great.” Williams, Zoe (31 March 2023). William is a surgeon who begins an affair with his son Jay's fiancée Anna. William soon becomes obsessed with Anna, which threatens his career and life. [1] Cast [ edit ] Maybe this is a regional dialect thing, & has a different connotation than I’m used to, but multiple characters referred to multiple women throughout the book as “cows”, including murder victims. It felt disrespectful to me.I've been following the Detective Jane Phillips series since the beginning, and I always seem to have a great time with each book. It's no surprise that I wasn't able to resist book number five Deadly Obsession, and I'm happy to say that it turned out to be one of my favorites of the series so far. An engaging writing style, a fascinating plot and serial killer character, lots of plot twists and suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat... Oh yes, if you enjoy detective thrillers you will be in for a treat with this one. According to WLBT, the couple has been working in the film industry for over 20 years. Together, they operate The Peoples Network, directing and producing over 100 films. A creative serial killer plot that kept me engaged throughout the book, with a satisfying ending. Not heavy on character development, but what’s there worked.

Why not start your Lifetime thriller weekend early with Old Flames Never Die? It stars Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe ( Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Vows We Have Made), Lou Ferrigno Jr. ( Stargirl), Rich Paul ( Welcome To The Christmas Family Reunion), and Whitney Able ( Jenie).

Now Phillips is in no doubt - she’s chasing a psychopath who has been inspired by Britain’s most horrifying serial killers. As the body count rises, psychological profiler Dr Siobhan Harris joins the team and little by little they begin to build a picture of a terrifying predator. Ritman, Alex (17 March 2022). Don’t forget to listen to the Lifetime Uncorked Podcast available on iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts! It's becoming a trend in this series that the conflict isn't all as it seems. Like there is one huge conflict in the story, and it gets solved, but then oops turns out it wasn't completely solved and there is a twist. I didn't quite catch it the first two books but by this book it definitely seems to be a trend. Not that it's bad, just getting kinda predictable.A copy of this book was kindly provided to me by Netgalley and Inkubator Books in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! *** The spice was excellent. I feel like each book gets a little spicier. We knew Aiden's book would be good given his horn dog history, and the author didn't disappoint. He has a huge issue with his sister in laws but that never gets cleared up? The story bridges one, sort of, but never does anything with the other? The one he calls the worst names. The four-part series has been described as an ‘erotic thriller’. [6] Discussing the sex scenes within the project Lloyd Malcolm told Zoe Williams of The Guardian that “The book is so particular about the kind of sex they’re having and the way they do it and how that feeds into their relationship.” She added that “it has to be quite a vanilla version of kink, because it’s mainstream TV” but it “was really important to me to not be saying anything like: ‘BDSM sex is bad sex,’” [7] Broadcast [ edit ]
