Description

Anna is a character that I enjoyed reading. Her characterisation was excellently done. A timid and sheltered girl, abused and fed of beliefs that her existence is not important and turning into someone stronger, resilient and mostly level-headed. I love how Anna brings herself to the world, and I honestly want to hug her for everything that she had to face when she was a child. Please be warned to everyone that the Body harm, abuse and gaslighting is quite extreme in this book, and if you feel that you can't stomach it, I would suggest to put this book on hold. Other than that, I somehow liked that the author portrayed Anna's hardships as it made her a witch that seeks to be helpful to everyone. Mix together Mean Girls + The Craft + a dash of Wednesday (the Netflix series) and you have Threadneedle. I really enjoyed this book by Cari Thomas and wasn't looking for it to be anything more than a story about teen girls and magic which is exactly what this was. I loved the high school drama, friendships, romance, and rebellion as much as the magic - and I really liked the magic and the unique way it was described. The relationships are also complex and heartbreaking at times, the characters fully formed. My favorite character was Rowan and I hope she gets more of an arc in the rest of the series! Sixteen-year-old Anna lived with her Aunt in London. She never knew her parents they died eshe was a few months old. But her Aunt said that they died because of magic. But it is cursed. So, since Anna can remember, her aunt has been preparing her for her magic to be bound and in a year’s time and join her aunt and become a Binder. As her aunt believes that magic is a sin, and it is cursed and should not be used. But as a teenager, they don’t always do what they say they going to do. So, with her friend Effie and Atticus and some other girls from school they build their own Coven.

And a new notification that I'm adding: The Trilogy or Series notification. This is book one in The Language of Magic. In this case the ending resolves a major issue, but many plot threads will go tendrilling into the next book (s).This story is the first in the series but the ending is quite conclusive, though not complete. Most of the major plot points are resolved, so those who avoid cliff-hangers can still attempt the book. The ending sets a very firm foundation for the next book in the series. Ever since Anna can remember, her aunt has warned her of the dangers of magic. She has taught her to fear how it twists and knots and turns into something dark and deadly. Threadneedle is book one in a new young adult fantasy series and I can say without a doubt that I am already eagerly anticipating the next instalment.

The magic both gleams and threatens. There are riddles and puzzles to be solved and there’s a library – trust me, it’s a good one. You’ll want to give this a try.’The Overall Concept of the book is pretty interesting! Love as a curse? Eventhough its a chunky book, the story was direct. Even if there are a few cliche phrases and some repetitions of some parts, I still did not find it annoying. The book really showed how some teens act and in some sense, a coming-of-age story of witches in training, which is honestly super fun to read! The friendships in here are just the cutest as well! I have to love Rowan in here for being the best girl, and Effie, is ... well... complicated, but I don't hate her. Attis is well-written for a male character and I liked that the romance was balanced out with the plot. In fact, the romance was barely there but every scene of them , for me, was cute and SO. MUCH. TENSION . , which honestly, makes it CUTER. Y ahora contadme: ¿Os gustan este tipo de historias de magia y brujería? ¿También sois como yo y las novelas con una determinada ambientación os ponen ojitos *.*? ¿Os llama la atención esta novedad? Aunt is terrified of magic and the reasons for this are only fully explained toward the latter end of the book so I’ll not spoil the story by talking about the why of it all.
