Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do. I only post positive reviews, if I don't like a book or cannot imagine it being one that I would recommend to a readership group whose interests differ from my own, I don't post a review. Moonlocket, the second in the series is equally exciting, packed with thrills, heroes and dastardly villains. And especially the combination of violence, guns, family members, drowning and death is a combination that I don’t think should have happened in this middle grade.

I loved having a chance to expand the characters of Lily, Robert and Malkin and take them off on a new adventure — one filled with catastrophe and courage, hidden lockets and escaped convicts. If you want a fun adventure, fit for young and old alike, jump into Peter Bunzl's Cogheart Adventures.I love the way the clockwork technology in this story is woven into Victorian England, complete with mechanicals, hybrids, and history. Peter Bunzl’s 19th-century London isn’t just filled with air-powered machines and clockwork robots, but also with the first Underground system and mysterious theatre- and psychic shows. While London prepares for Queen Victoria’s Jubilee, the city gets shaken up by the break-out of England’s most wanted criminal, the famous escapologist Jack Door. Thanks to them, I got to spend the last day of my Easter holidays snuggled up with this, the second Cogheart adventure.

When Professor Hartman receives a letter from Queen Victoria asking him to repair her mechanical elephant he sets off for London, leaving the children in the care of the mechanicals, Miss Tock, Mr Wingnut and Lily’s loyal friend Malkin, a mechanical fox. Lily has a mechanical heart and this leads to inner conflict as she tries to determine whether she is human or not whilst subconsciously questioning what defines human. One of my favorite quotes: “If you didn't divide it up, carve things into categories, it was all one in the same anyway - waves and oceans, dawns and sunsets, noise and silence. Lily has never quite felt normal, especially after discovering that she is a hybrid—a human with a cogheart implanted in her chest. This brilliant sequel to Cogheart is full of daring, danger and family secrets in a richly imagined world that will sweep you away.As usual, poor Malkin is trying in vain to keep the kids from getting into too much trouble but they don't listen and instead they are off on an adventure to London via airship. An exhilarating adventure full of mystery and intrigue, written with ingenuity and an empathy that touched the heart. It has great lead characters and is set in a unique way with the steampunk theme that you very rarely see in books.

Jack Door was a little predictable and stereotypical, but I enjoyed the moments were Finlo doubted Jack and wasn't the "perfect villain". But that particular mechanical elephant lives in an amazing theme park in France filled with mechanimals! If you didn't divide it, carve things into categories, it was all one and the same anyway - waves and oceans, dawns and sunsets, noise and silence. Biography: Peter Bunzl grew up in South London in a rambling Victorian house with three cats, two dogs, one sister, an antique-dealer dad and an artist mum.

Both types of performance existed in Victorian times, but in the end I chose the latter because it fit better with the drama of what happens after that and the history of the characters involved. It shows the importance of friendship, and how it is sometimes more important than family, and how a these relationships can get you through hard times. What’s more, beneath all the action are some profound and moving reflections by Lily and Robert on the meaning of family and its importance to them.
