I bought this DVD because I have never had the opportunity to see Bob Dylan in concert and having been a fan since I was 17 I thought the added bonus of additional artists would make an entertaining few hours. The concert was dubbed "Bobfest" by Neil Young at the beginning of his "All Along the Watchtower" cover. After she finished the song, she went backstage, where she broke into tears and was comforted by Kristofferson.

Sony managed to obtain the rights to the HD-footage that was broadcast at Japanese national TV at the time. It's been commented that it's not the whole show but there must be good reasons for that (licensing? Dubbed “Bobfest” on stage by a jubilant Neil Young, the 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration reached a transcendent crescendo with an unforgettable performance and all-star jam featuring the evening’s honoree. Too many highlights in this but some that stand out are Seven More Days, Ronnie Wood, with Cropper, Dunn, Howie Epstein, Booker T. Struck from a new High Definition video master with remastered audio, The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration – Deluxe Edition makes this historic all-star musical event available for the first time on DVD and Blu-ray.Thus, while the Disk 1 rehearsals and extras may not be as entertaining as the rest of the set, these items had to be included for the sake of completeness. This essentially would have been my ultimate all star lineup at the time I first heard it, and it's one of my favorite Dylan/Byrds songs no less. Warmly dubbed the Bobfest by participant Neil Young, the show was broadcast around the world and feature a cast of musical notables performing carefully chosen an0 often surprising selections from the incomparable Dylan songbook. Richie Havens, never a favourite, lasted a minute or so, and Stevie Wonder’s Blowing In The Wind’ never got a look in.

The 2DVD and Blu-ray versions of The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration – Deluxe Edition include 40 minutes of previously unreleased material including behind-the-scenes rehearsal footage, interviews and more. My Back Pages" featured Clapton's frenzied soloing cast against Neil's mournful guitar wail painting a rich musical collage. Brilliant piece of Rock/Pop History with so many Superstar Artistes coming together to pay tribute to a master craftsman of musical poetry.

The deluxe edition also features rehearsal footage of Sinéad O'Connor, who was supposed to perform Dylan's gospel classic I Believe in You at the event but was booed off the stage following her controversial Saturday Night Live appearance when the singer ripped up a photo of the Pope. October 1992, Madison Square Garden, New York and a star-studded line up joins Bob Dylan onstage for a show to celebrate 30 years since his first Columbia Recordings album. The Smith and Hammond performances were transferred from a 3rd generation tape and are thus only fair video quality with audio static. When he did turn up his actual performance time was quite limited which I felt was not enough; apparently when concert was broadcast it went on for 4 hours.Similarly, The Clancy Brothers, The O’Jays, Tracy Chapman and John Mellencamp all are superb, and Roger McQuinn does a great job with ‘Mr Tambourine Man’.
