PDF / EPUB File Name: Basil_of_Baker_Street_-_Eve_Titus.pdf, Basil_of_Baker_Street_-_Eve_Titus.epub I know, it's intended for kids. Small kids. We should just say it's not one of those kids books that holds up.Then, but one month after we had moved to Baker Street, the strangest case of Basil’s career began. Children's author Eve Titus created the characters of Basil of Baker Street and Anatole. Basil, a mouse private detective in the Victorian age, was the subject of Walt Disney's The Great Mouse Detective. An animated adaptation was also made based on Anatole, a heroic and resourceful French mouse. Coincidentally, he have discovered Fidget in here so he tries to tell Dawson, but his partner accidentally caused the whole bar fight and leads Fidget escape from his sight. He eventually have found the secret entrance to Ratigan’s lair and tries to free Olivia from the bottle, but it turns out to be set-up for Ratigan and his thugs to trap Basil and Dawson. Basil blames Dawson for letting Fidget escape, but soon apologizes to him (after realizing he has hurt Dawson's feelings) and tries to think of another plan to locate Olivia. However, upon seeing that Dawson has Fidget's list, Basil becomes elated as the list contains some necessary clues. After he and Dawson return to Baker Street, Basil analyzes the paper and deduces that Fidget was at the bar and from doing an experiment of chemistry, the paper was highly saturated with a distillation of sodium chloride. The results of analysis lead Basil to a seedy pub where the sewer meets the waterfront, and he and Dawson immediately go there disguised as sailors. When he mentions the name Ratigan to the barmaid, he and Dawson's drinks are drugged. Basil is able to find out, but Dawson, who has drunk the drug-induced drink, ends up causing a bar fight. Amid the chaos, Basil finds Fidget and gets Dawson to follow him to a trapdoor he has found.

Narrator: Dawson throughout the series, but the role is taken over temporarily for one chapter of Basil in Mexico by Basil since at the time Dawson was kidnapped by Ratigan. Basil was a supporting character in the Disney Adventures comic, where Olivia and the newly reformed Fidget took the starring roles. Dreadful Musician: Sort of. While Basil can't play the violin like his mentor to save his life, he is quite good at playing the flute. Basil and the Lost Colony (1964) Basil leads an expedition in search of the Lost Colony of the Tellmice. Along the way he is being hunted by Ratigan and his gang. |Ratigan is shown as a rather different character than he was in the books as Moriarty. He is shown as intelligent, but much more outlandish and is shown with a lot of brute physical strength, which was never the case in the canon. This story is filled with stunning deduction after stunning deduction, which I obviously won’t spoil. I have mixed feelings about this book. I appreciated it on several levels, just not the level of actually reading the thing. Diana Chesney as Mr. Judson: Basil's housekeeper. She adores Basil, but gets very annoyed when he mistreats her good pillows by shooting them with a pistol. She is based on Mrs. Hudson. But Basil, of course, was far from ordinary. Even before the kidnappers’ note came, his keen mind had deduced what the criminals really wanted. Basil and the Big Cheese Cook-Off (2018) Basil and Dawson journey to Paris to solve a mystery threatening the world-renowned international cheese cook-off cooking competition.

Mice journeyed long distances to consult him, even French mice from across the Channel. Rich or poor, no one in need of help was ever turned from his door. Basil and Ratigan made meet-and-greet appearances throughout the theme parks in promotion for the film. They have been retired since 2004. It was actually originally intended for iconic British actor John Cleese to do the voice of Basil but turned down the role since he was cast in the non-Disney live-action film, A Fish Called Wanda, which was released in 1988. Canon Welding: Basil in the Wild West states that Basil's cousin is the title character of the Anatole series by the same author. In the film, when Dr. Dawson meets a lost and frightened Olivia Flaversham, desperately searching for Basil to help her locate her kidnapped father, he helps her find Baker Street. Before long, they are involved with Basil in a maze of mystery and intrigue, trying to see if he can pinpoint the location of his arch-nemesis, the nefarious Professor Ratigan. Basil has fought Ratigan before, but he has never been able to catch him and knows he is at large, ready to commit another diabolical crime. Basil initially ignores Olivia as he is trying to find a match between two different bullets that might help him find Ratigan, but he (again) fails and walks over to his chair, dejected. As he sits down and starts playing his violin sadly, Basil finally takes notice of Olivia when she mentions that her toymaker father was taken by a peg-legged bat, who Basil immediately recognizes as Fidget, Ratigan's main henchman. Olivia tells Basil her story, and while Basil is trying to figure out what Ratigan wants with a toymaker, Fidget turns up at the house, but Basil is alerted to his presence by Olivia, prompting him and Dawson to rush outside to find the bat.Basil and the Royal Dare (May 2019) Basil and Dawson come to the aid of the British and Bohemian Royal Families (of mice), when several royal teens go missing. Basil of Baker Street is the titular main protagonist of Disney's 26th full-length animated feature film The Great Mouse Detective. Basil made a few cameo appearances in House of Mouse. His most notable cameo is him keeping Dawson away from a mousetrap that Ratigan has set for them in the episode "Donald's Lamp Trade". In another episode, Basil and Dawson were some of the mice to take flight on Dumbo's Airline. P.S. This book is the inspiration for the Disney movie, The Great Mouse Detective. I have not seen the movie, and probably never will, in case it ruins my perception of this masterpiece. If you’ve already seen the movie, I fear it may be too late for you. Obviously as the film was intended for children, the subject matter is much lighter than it was in the original, which often focused on solving murder-mysteries.
