Alternatively, a Dark Angles Master makes a great accompanying character. He allows the unit to move and still get re-rolls of 1’s to hit. Particularly useful when overcharging their shots. Whilst they are within 6″ of this Warlord, models in Ravenwing units from your army that have Advanced this turn do not suffer the penalty for Advancing and firing Assault weapons.’

Salamanders- Salamanders allow you to reroll a single hit AND wound roll for each unit per turn during both the shooting phase and on overwatch. It also causes AP-1 weapons to be considered AP0 when targeting them. This lets you reroll one of those to hit rolls of 1 that would kill one of your models, should you not have an ability in range of them to reroll 1’s in the first place. It also gives them more survivability against weapons with low AP values. A 5-man squad of hellblasters will likely get focussed down by the enemy before they can do much but a larger squad with a bit of support will do a lot of damage and require real effort from your opponent to wipe out. All of which can take the pressure off the rest of your army.Close on the heels of Dark Imperium, Games Workshop introduced three new ways to get started with Warhammer 40.0000 this week: Know No Fear, a pared-down version of Dark Imperium, First Strike, containing the new easy-to-build Reivers, Intercessors, Plague Marines and Poxwalkers, and a Getting Started with Warhammer 40.000 magazine with a free Primaris Marine on the cover. In this review, we’ll have a look at Know No Fear, especially at it’sprobably most defining feature: the play mat and cardboard bunker. However, as described above, all three options are valid choices to have on the unit. It depends on the rest of your army composition what role you want the Hellblasters to play. I think they are such a good unit that you could even go for several units with different armaments in the same army (though this does start to get quite expensive). The galaxy seethes with dread terrors, monstrous beasts and heretical war engines that vent their fury upon the Emperor's servants. It is the job of the Hellblasters to eradicate such abominations. With searing plasma they scour them from existence, until nothing but glassy craters and glowing clouds of ash remain. Amongst the Space Marine Chapters, Hellblaster Squads act as single-armament fire support teams. The entire squad carries potent Plasma Incinerators, directing these weapons against priority targets that threaten the advance of the Adeptus Astartes.

A problem (some call it a bonus) of plasma weaponry is its tendency to overheat; there are several optional components reflecting this. Bare head options featuring nasty burns are included for the Sergeant, and there are bionic arms included, heavily implying lost limbs in plasma accidents. There are also plenty of pistol holsters, reliquaries, grenade sets and purity seals included. They can be a very low body count army, so the all-important board control can be a bit more difficult. Again, just wording update to help with the Look Out, Sir term. We had some pretty cool combos in the first FAQ that came out with this, but that has now been invalidated. Remember, you also have the chance to fire if you kill yourself from an overcharging shot. This gives you even more firepower to use against the enemy army.

Combat Squads- Before any models are deployed at the start of the game, a Hellblaster squad containing 10 models may be split into two units, each containing 5 models. Another great benefit of the Dark Angels is the morale mitigation that comes from Grim Resolve. This means that you cannot lose more than one model to a failed morale test each turn. When combined with And They Shall Know No Fear, this makes the Dark Angels Hellblasters quite resilient to the effects of morale. It also means that you can afford to field the Hellblaster squad in units of more than 5 models. I frequently run a single unit of 10 Hellblasters in my Dark Angels army. This is because a bigger squad gains more benefit from the effects of some of the great Stratagems they can access, and have less to fear from a failed morale test than some other Chapters. Often a squad of Hellblasters will be all that stands between a rampaging monster or xenos walker and the rest of the Space Marine strike force. Thus, each Hellblaster must be ready to concentrate their fire upon such targets to the exclusion of all else, sending pinpoint shots into their target's weak spots no matter the risk to themselves. When we are looking at Dark Angels, they seemed to get a cost increase more in line with the algorithmic points change as described in our review of the overall points changes. We’ve got a very inline point increase with the rest of the factions, so nothing to be too salty about there, thankfully.

Master in Phobos Armour w/ Hero of the Chapter (-1 CP) and Inner Circle (-1 CP) to have the Watched Warlord trait.[5 PL, 95pts] Grim Resolve- You can re-roll all to hit rolls of 1 for this unit whenever it shoots (including Overwatch) so long as it did not move in its prior movement phase. In addition, this unit can never lose more than one model as the result of a single failed Morale test. The only limiting factor on the usefulness of these squads is the comparative scarcity and instability of their weapons. As such, Hellblaster Squads comprise the finest marksmen each company can provide, and will only resort to supercharging their plasma incinerators in truly dire circumstances. They are not afraid to do so, however, and more than one squad has martyred itself in battle, turning the tide at the cost of their own immolation. [2] See Also The Hellblaster Squad is a new addition to the Dark Angels army, and one that will be readily taken to by most players. The Dark Angels’ peference for Plasma weaponry is well represented by this Primaris unit, as they are able to put out a lot of high strength, high AP firepower, with the potential to cause a lot of damage to almost any unit in the enemy army. While this unit is very strong on its own, the addition of some supporting characters and some of the Stratagems that they have access to makes them an incredible unit in the Dark Angels army. Dark Angels: Built in rerolls of 1 when stationary. Stratagem for extra damage. Azrael for full rerolls and a 4++.

Recommended: Movement Trays for 32mm Bases

You need some way to reroll 1s sothat you can overcharge them without too much risk of blowing up. Normally that will mean a Captain, probably best kept fairly cheap unless you plan to advance them up the field. The unit consists of one Hellblaster Sergeant and 4 Hellblasters, with the option to increase the squad size up to 10 models. Each Hellblaster costs 33 points for the basic armament (165 pts for the basic squad).
