The MS03 flashlight uses mode memory. The bezel is flat, but there’s a few crenelations around it; it appears that there’s an inner and outer part to it. The inner part holds the lens in, and my guess is that it’s screwed in place. The outer part is the body of the light itself. Both parts sit at very close to the same height, with the inner ring only a fraction of a millimeter more protruding. The brightness of this flashlight is not without warning. Not only do you have to be cautious not to look into the light when it’s on (ever, at any output level), but it can also become very hot. The unit’s head is still touchable, but you wouldn’t want to hold on to it very long. The Aerospace-grade aluminum alloy body of the unit becomes warm, which could be a benefit in cold climates. A built-in thermal control module will automatically adjust the brightness output according to the mode and temperature to keep the unit at a comfortable temperature to hand-hold. There’s a few issues though; that “red light” syndrome rearing its head more than once is quite frustrating, but if I always charged through the USB cable, it wouldn’t be a problem. It’s still there though, so that’s annoying. The tube removal is also an unnecessarily long process, and getting it to sit right again without the above issues with turbo can be frustrating, along with the odd button placement. The Imalent MS03 comes with (you might have guessed it already because of its name) a triple LED. It contains three CREE XHP70.2 LEDs that are positioned below a triple smooth reflector. There is an adhesive label on the lens to protect it against dust and damage, with the statement ‘remove dustproof film lens ‘. In my tests the full recharge took place in just over 6 hours (using a 5V / 3A power supply). Recharging, according to my equipment, is done at approximately 2A max.
