Break off a walnut size piece of green fondant and a pea size piece of red fondant for the hat. Roll into a ball. Take another piece and roll into a thin rope. This is for the rim of the hat. You need one more piece of red for the scarf, roll out with a rolling pin and cut into a strip. Brush the upper third of the marshmallow with water, then press the marshmallow into a plate of colored sugar. Simplify it: For younger kids, skip the body of the snowman and have them decorate a face on the side of a jumbo marshmallow. Seeing it float inside the hot cocoa is just as fun!

Since the middle of the marshmallows will be less dry than the top and bottom, the middle will shrink in a little. That’s OK. Large Marshmallows– You could even opt for jumbo marshmallows. You want them big enough to see all the detail, but small enough that they fit nicely in your drink. Make them your own: The materials used are pretty flexible so this idea is just a jumping-off point. They are pretty perfect but no two snowmen are identical. Be creative!
