Initially, I was very sceptical about this combination but by testing this product I have had my mind well and truly changed. There are also 70-liter versions, though I personally consider these too large for general travel purposes. Features of the Farpoint Trek 55

On the plus side, though, the lifetime warranty means I can get it patched for free. The only reason I haven’t is that the material is so high-quality the hole hasn’t grown at all in two years and I forget it’s there! Since I am a dude I can’t speak from personal experience here, but many women travelers I’ve met have told me they love this edition. It is available in just two sizes, both of which are too big to be considered a carry-on. And that is one reason why I’m not so impressed with the travel aspect of this bag.

The padding is comfortable. I carried it stuffed full of all my gear on the four day Santa Cruz Trek in the Cordillera Blancas of Peru and the padding and clips helped ease the burden a lot. I like this feature, but it mostly appeals to hardcore Osprey fans. It’s not worth it to actually buy both this and a Daylite, just to be able to switch between the two. But, if you’re already a proud owner of a Daylite or a Daylite Plus, you’ll be happy to know that the Farpoint Trek is compatible with both. Compatible With Hydraulics LT Reservoirs Osprey Farpoint Trek FAQs Osprey Farpoint VS Osprey Farpoint Trek – Which Should I Choose? The Farpoint and the Farpoint Trek, which one is for you?If you are spending a summer city hopping around Europe or Southeast Asia the standard Farpoint will suit you perfectly. On the other hand, if you are heading to South America and planning a few hiking trips, the Farpoint Trek will be much better suited to the task! By the way, the Trek version of the Farpoint does not have an S/M or M/L version, since it can be adjusted to any height. But if you are going on a longer and more adventurous trip, I think the Farpoint Trek 55 will work really well. Osprey bags have officially been puppy approved by this lil’ guy in Bulgaria – how many of their competitors can say that? It used to be that the Farpoint 55 wasn’t carry-on compliant and it had some other points against it that made it a less attractive option, but now they are much more of a match.

Unlike the classic Farpoint series, the Frpaoint Trek is only available in two sizes, neither of which is small enough to be considered a carry-on when you’re flying. The outside of the Farpoint Trek 75 is covered in various attachment points for extra gear. From the daisy chain style loops to the mount points for the rain cover, Osprey have covered all their bases here. The Trek opens from the side, like a suitcase. The items in the center are held together by compression straps, keeping everything else in place too. Whether to buy the Farpoint or Fairview 55 or another version depends on your space requirements and whether you’re into the 2-in-1 system. You can consider several configurations based on your needs: So, I literally live out of this bag and have for three years of full-time travel through more than 20 countries. The frame in the Trek 75 is much like that of the original Farpoint. It is very unobtrusive yet still works incredibly well and makes carrying heavy loads a doddle.

At this point, I consider our Osprey bags as part of my family because they were wedding gifts and have been a dependable companion to us through it all. The latest edition has an adjustable harness. This means you can move the harness up or down by up to about 3 inches or 8cm. What are the differences? Well, the Fairview 40 has slightly smaller dimensions, but has been made more comfortable as it is designed for the female body. Also, the shoulder straps curve along the body, creating a better fit-for-women design. The Farpoint series is technically unisex, but there is now also the Osprey Fairview 40. This is a women’s specific edition with some tweaks for extra comfort. As a flight cover, the AirCover feels a little baggy. Unless your bag is crammed to capacity, the AirCover will sag and not look great but the protection it offers is certainly worth the downgrade in appearance. As a rain shield, I was pleasantly surprised by how well it fit.No, there is just one size. It used to have a S/M and a M/L version but no longer. There is now only one size: O/S. Support for a water bladder. A water system for trekking is not included, but you can easily add one if you want. If I were going on a big round-the-world trip or gap year today — one that would take me through multiple climates — I would likely go for this set-up instead of just a single carry-on. Conclusion The Farpoint 55 and Fairview 55 are essentially the same product; the only difference is that the Fairview is a women’s specific version.
