This "high standard" lens makes up in sharpness and low/distortion/CA for the tiny amount it lacks in speed. I think you’re probably right, I’ve got quite an attachment t it, as the lens I have probably used more than any other in m43 (I’ll have to pull the stats out of Lightroom one of these days). As with other Olympus lenses with an AF/MF clutch, you can disable it in the camera menu, which I often do as I tend to accidentally engage manual focus on these lenses. As appropriate, we shoot these with both full-frame and sub-frame bodies, at a range of focal lengths, and at both maximum aperture and ƒ/8.

Olympus 8-25mm f/4 Pro M.Zuiko Digital ED Review Olympus 8-25mm f/4 Pro M.Zuiko Digital ED Review

Your photos will have breathtaking resolution with low noise and rich dynamic range of expression from shadows to highlights. Zuiko 8-25mm f/4 Pro is another excellent lens from the folks at Olympus, continuing their long tradition of outstanding, well-built and sharp Zuiko Pro lenses. Upon focusing, there's virtually no audible noise, making this a good choice for candid still photography and shooting movies too. Mu-43 is a fan site and not associated with Olympus, Panasonic, or other manufacturers mentioned on this site. Not only did it offer some protection and peace of mind as I photographed nearby a local waterfall, but it also fended off an unexpected rainstorm with ease. This design delivers high level image reproduction from the center to the edges of the image even at the widest aperture setting, ideal for night scenes and star photography.

Reproduction in whole or part in any form or medium without specific written permission is prohibited. While in line with this thinking, one can then make a logical conclusion that it’s tougher to get something out of focus with a Micro Four Thirds camera than it is with a full frame or APS-C offering–and they’d be completely correct. However, once you stop down to f/16 and beyond, diffraction-related softness is very noticeable, and I would avoid using f/16-f22 if possible. I hope to put it through its paces this weekend, but the initial test shots that I made did show up something that I can't get with any of my zooms: a nice image in the EVF that looks far sharper and detailed.

For me this is the fast and compact standard prime that was missing in the Micro Four Thirds lens lineup. Much like its "sibling lens," the 12-45mm f/4 Pro, the new 8-25mm can focus very closely on the subject.

Olympus 25mm f/1.8 vs. Panasonic Leica 25mm f/1.4 Olympus 25mm f/1.8 vs. Panasonic Leica 25mm f/1.4

Look at that image above and seriously tell me that you wouldn’t expect to see something like this on a Tumblr blog or Food blog? It might be the best selling MFT camera since its release…but it has not outsold all of the other MFT cameras combined that have been sold and are in use … by no means is that statement true. In both low-light and in bright conditions, focusing speeds were very, very fast, and at both 8mm and 25mm focal lengths. When not in use, you rotate the zoom ring past the 8mm marking, and the lens barrel retracts and locks into place.
