It can easily go _to fine_ for my mokka pot, and I know of enough people using it for espresso. The q2 has small steps to fine tune. I believe the older q1 version had issues with fine tuning grind. Not sure. The most pressing question regarding manual grinders is obviously how it performs when it comes to particle distribution. Plastic is also used for the lid cover and adjustment knob, but these places it doesn’t seem out of place in the same way. A steel burr hand grinder will grind faster, some have a tighter distribution, others only just tighter, but by this I mean technically measurably tighter. But the measurable difference in distribution is not a linear guide to cup quality.

It comes in at a price point where you previously only had manual ceramic burr grinders or horrible electric grinders.

The burrs of the Timemore C2 are at a typical size at 38 mm, and many other grinders have burrs of a similar size. The award-winning company Baratza makes our top choice, the Encore. This unit is made for amateur baristas who want complete control of the brewing process, with 40 settings that allow you to optimize your grind to your precise specifications.

If you’re looking for the best all-around manual grinder, look no further. You can brew all types of coffee with this model, and you’ll enjoy every second of it. One of the great joys of my job here at CoffeeGeek is that I get to discover and use exceptional products. For years and years, I was used to the idea that, if I wanted a quality hand grinder, I had to go with something from Orphan Espresso and their huge and heavy Lido models. The OE Lido does set a high bar on quality output, but it’s not exactly a good travel solution. The Skerton Pro has the general Hario aesthetics, which means understated, beautiful, and soft. It’s hard not to be enamored with this grinder. The Lido 3 is a big and bulky grinder. Pictures don’t do it justice. In hand, you can feel how heavy and well-crafted its model is. The irony is that it’s marketed as a travel grinder due to being lighter than its predecessor, the Lido 2. But weighing in a 2 lbs or just above 1 kilo, you’d have to be a hardcore coffee geek to bring it on a trip. Big burrs There are cheaper portable manual grinders on the market that share similarities with the Porlex Mini, including the Javapress and Hario Slim Mill. However, a vital aspect of brewing satisfying coffee is the grind consistency. While the Porlex Mini can’t compete with the most expensive products, it still offers greater consistency and build quality than these grinders at similar price points.Previously we have seen grinders that were either very cheap and relatively useless, or more expensive and capable. Bonus info : There’s also a bigger version called “C2 Max”, which has a slightly larger capacity at around 30 grams. In daily use

This will be more than sufficient if you tend to favor AeroPress or pour over coffee. However, if you’re accustomed to preparing coffee for the whole family, or you are used to making in the region of a liter of French press every morning, either a hand grinder or an electric grinder with a larger capacity might be better options. Portability By providing Authority to Leave you agree that the parcel is deemed to have been received when left at your premises. I wasn’t a big fan of the old version of the Skerton. The new version, which was released in 2017, however, has upped its game significantly. PORLEX Ceramic Coffee Mill Mini” by m-s-y is licensed with CC BY-NC-SA 2.0. A hand grinder can help you make delicious coffeeThis was particularly noticeable when grinding for methods that require a very even grind, such as espresso. At finer ranges for espresso, moka pot and Aeropress, the Porlex Mini ii produces a lot of fines. However, as I moved into coarser ranges for pour over and French press, the grind size became extremely inconsistent with huge numbers of fines. The AeroPress has become very popular in the last decade, and with good reason. It’s a portable, minimalistic brewer that makes great-tasting coffee with excellent flavors. However, the grinding process can make or break your AeroPress experience. Do it right and you will brew delicious coffee. However, if you use the wrong grind size, you will end with a mediocre cup of coffee. I’m not sure if the plastic is something you need to worry about – besides for aesthetic reasons. It seems well made and is not exposed to excessive force during regular operation. A grinder should offer your choice for the size of each ground. The more choices, the more you can dial in your size to exactly what you prefer.
