I just find it very boring and I don’t usually care, and that’s exactly what was happening with this book. It consists of short, concise sentences that do not possess much in the way of literary flair, but they have a clever way of capturing the reader’s attention and edging the story along. I think why this book didn't reach the 5 star level for me is nothing really blew my mind with the story. No-one does suburban paranoia like Shari Lapena—this slowly unfurling nightmare will have you biting your nails until the end.

She hopes to keep the girls awake long enough to make it through the appointment, and then they can fall asleep in the car on the short drive home. Shari Lapena proves yet again that she is the mistress of the pacy plot, cliff edge tension and menacing suburban claustrophobia. and reminded me of one of my least favorite characters in all the land (Amanda in David Bell’s The Request). Hint: since reading the Tour gives you a badge, and you have no badges, it's obvious you have not read it.She begins a relationship with his business partner Niall, and suggests that he is the father of a child she gave away years earlier. This becomes a key point in the book because Patrick’s new wife, Stephanie, becomes fearful she might have married and had twins with a murderer and wants to know the truth for her own safety. And if the plots in the author’s other books are equal to this one, Shari Lapena could become my guilty pleasure.
