About this deal

Detective Chief Inspector William Warwick brings his team along to investigate the Command, trying to root out those bad apples who are more concerned with padding their pockets than jumping in front of a bullet. Which means for Scotland Yard, the focus is on the elite Royalty Protection Command, and its commanding officer. And he’s extremely disappointed to find that the Princess is having an affair but can only stand by and ensure her safety and privacy is his number one priority. This time, the team is investigating the Royalty Protection Unit and so, they are all transferred undercover into the same unit.

But when the lightbulb of understanding finally turns on, from that point in both books I didn't want to put them down. His political career, having suffered several controversies, ended after a conviction for perverting the course of justice and his subsequent imprisonment. I’m always ready to discover new-to-me authors, especially when I toss in a palate cleanser that is much different than what I would normally read. While Warwick sends one of his most trusted detectives to protect Diana, there’s much to be done to keep the peace. The fifth book in the series sees William Warwick and team getting involved with the protection of Royal family, precisely Princess Diana. He won the Prix Relay du Roman d’Évasion, a prize that rewards a novel in which readers can ‘escape from everyday life’, for his novel Paths of Glory, and the Prix Polar International Prize for the best international thriller of the year, for his novel A Prisoner of Birth. Biography: Jeffrey Archer, whose novels and short stories include the Clifton Chronicles, the William Warwick novels, Kane and Abel and Cat O' Nine Tales, has topped the bestseller lists around the world, with sales of over 275 million copies. It’s getting so monotonous that he had to go back in time and use Margaret Thatcher and Princess Diana in the story to make it interesting. The art industry continues to play a dominant role in the story, proving to be a reliably consistent part of Warwick’s life.

I know I didn’t realise that this is part of a series, thankfully I realised it quite late in the book and I don’t think it affected me. Archer proves that he’s got many ideas to share and I hope he’s able to finish this series before laying down his pen.Ross Hogan is chosen to guard Princess Diana, a highly responsible job and one that keeps him on his toes, whilst the rest of the team have to embed themselves into the close-knit unit to find out what is going on without arousing suspicion of what their true mission is.

The second is a continuation of a story involving a career criminal, his angry former wife, art thievery and a crooked lawyer; lots of opportunities for double crossing. With all the hype, Scotland Yard and the Met will have to ensure they are ready for the heightened security issues that await them as they guard Diana’s every move. I have no real inclination for anything royalty related so went into this novel with lowered anticipation. Many thanks to the publisher, via NetGalley, for providing me with a pre-release copy to read and review. As has become the norm during this series, the entire team of police officers working under Superintendent Hawksby have been shifted to a new section. The interactions between Warwick’s team and the royal family were fascinating, as was Diana’s encounter with young Artemisia. Jeffrey Archer, whose novels and short stories include the Clifton Chronicles, the William Warwick novels, Kane and Abel and Cat O' Nine Tales, has topped the bestseller lists around the world, with sales of over 275 million copies. A cast of characters that improves and deepens with each passing book offers the reader something they can enjoy, complaining progress and recession throughout the novels.

I get the impression that it is better to read this series from the beginning to understand the significance of some of the secondary characters, such as the escaped prisoner, Miles Faulkner. I can only hope the intensity continues as the book continues, rocketing towards the ending Archer has in mind. I will never forget the day I came home from junior high school to find my mom waiting for me with one of the Harlequin novels from my stash. The ongoing saga of Miles Faulkner and his counsel, Mr Booth-Watson appears to be going through a transition phase with the drama apparently building up for a larger showdown, presumably in the next book. Maverick ex-undercover operative Ross Hogan is charged with a very sensitive - and unique - responsibility.

When Ross’s fears are realised not even he could have predicted the scale of what is taking place, will he be powerless to do anything?
