About this deal

Beautiful artwork and compelling characters [take] the forefront of this romantic, tech-savvy retelling of Greek mythology. NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER - Witness what the gods do after dark in the second volume of a stylish and contemporary reimagining of one of the best-known stories in Greek mythology, featuring a brand-new, exclusive short story from creator Rachel Smythe.

There are a minority of people who claim Rachel isn't putting much effort into her art, not to mention there are people out there taking her art and putting their twist and editing it, claiming to make it better. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. Persephone is young and beautiful as well as intelligent and very sheltered with a domineering mother who believes she knows best but in reality doesn’t know her daughter at all she’s not a child but a young woman yearning for more but incredibly codependent on her mother. This issue addresses the age difference between Hades and Persephone head on, and while the characters act in problematic ways (I mean, its the Greek Gods, what do you expect), Rachel Smyth leans into it for excellent results.Rachel Smythe's artwork is vivid and enchanting, with deeply relatable characters and a deft handling of their dark pasts. So, taking that in mind: what on earth does Hades think he’s doing getting together with Minthe again? As I said in the beginning this is for mature readers and it’s one of my favorites if you need more go checkout the WEBTOON that began it all. You can read the entire Webtoon here, but also I do love having the physical copies of these as the art is stunning and really pops. This left a bad taste in my mouth and even though being 19 makes you a legal adult this felt grimy and like the author was trying to hyper-infantilize Persephone.

Not only does Rachel Smythe's talent as an illustrator shine in Lore Olympus but also her skill with weaving a steamy, often laugh-out-loud funny, and emotional retelling. Liv Albert, author of Greek Mythology: The Gods, Goddesses, and Heroes Handbook and creator of Let's Talk About Myths, Baby! Finally, I just want to gush for a million years about how fuckin' CUTE Perse and Cerberus are 😭 What a good boy! The characters also feel like they have a bit more depth now, and their interactions are all strangely humorous or endearing.

Follow the propulsive love story of two Greek gods, told with lavish artwork and contemporary sensibilities. This full-color edition of Smythe’s original Eisner-nominated webcomic Lore Olympus features a brand-new, exclusive short story, and brings Greek mythology into the modern age in a sharply perceptive and romantic graphic novel.

After a compromise is reached she is allowed to venture out and be part of society as long as she is watched cared for and lives with another goddess. There were also some Choices™️ made by Hades at the end of this volume that I'm extremely displeased with, buuut I also feel pretty certain they'll be taken care of sooner rather than later!
