I have retained them for an emergency, but wouldn't take them regularly as I would rather try to regulate my diet to avoid the foods that make me gassy. Bragg's charcoal is made from high-quality activated charcoal naturally derived from sustainably-sourced coconut shells.

Most of these products claim to use activated charcoal, however they do not claim to use pharmaceutical grade activated charcoal, which is essential for oral use. These tablets have to be able to dissolve in the stomach within 15 minutes, and so are rather soft by nature.

Unfortunately we are no longer able to send to France, Germany, Norway, Slovakia or Sweden due to customs regulations. Do not take these tablets if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if you are under the age of 12 years old.Activated charcoal is produced by; heating charcoal to high temperatures (800 - 1000 degrees centigrade) this process alters the structure of the charcoal producing a lattice / honeycomb structure, which has a huge surface area, 1g of activated charcoal may have an area of over 1000 square meters. I purchased these tablets as I have IBS and was suffering from a lot of trapped wind and suffering a lot of pain from it which then resulted in rather smelly blow offs. The good thing about charcoal tablets is that they are safe, although those using conventional drugs should let their doctors know because the charcoal can lessen the effect of medication, they absorb quite a bit in the digestive system.

A One of the benefits of taking Medicinal Charcoal as opposed to other products on the market is that because it is not a drug, it has no direct action on any organ of the body, it does not enter the blood stream nor is the charcoal itself adsorbed into your body. I tend to think that charcoal is more popular among the older age groups because their digestive systems are weaker and in need of more support, but that age group of course know it as one of the few products from around the war that they could easily find.
