Oranges courtesy of bergamot provide it with that sharp citric scent but it is not too heavy nor anything like medicine. The flowers soften up the citruses and aldehydes and turn into a much warmer musk toward the dry down stage. I'm amazed you found one this age that still had a smell, let alone a pleasant smell and a still spreadable consistency!

The vintage bottle resembles the same one for L'Origan and was reissued in the 1980's as a spray cologne. Interestingly, out of all the perfumes I received, this is the only one that appears to have been a 'go-to' fragrance for my benefactor. It is a very lovely scent: smooth, powdery, elegant, with just the right amount of fruit (I do detest fruity scents BUT I do adore fruity notes in many scents if well balanced and not overdosed) and with an excellent lasting power.By the same token, Birmingham, the second largest city in Britain, is a 30 minute train ride away from where I live, and I hardly ever go there either - whether to attend concerts, exhibitions, or just to cruise the temple to consumerism that is the newly revamped Bullring. Younger noses may not appreciate her, but she's the mother of comfort and safety for many, myself included.

It is pretty special for sure and I am very glad to own a little bit of this (criminally discontinued) legend. I was able to smell its recreation, L'Iris de Fath launched in 2018, and they both share that intriguing botanical center. I don't know that I'd wear this outside, but it's a comfy, rainy day in the house kind of scent for me.For these latest finds included no fewer than four bottles or purse sprays that were BNIB - or Brand Old In Box, to be more exact. On skin it smelled spicy, woody, powdery, and floral and was reminiscent of Millot Crepe de Chine but with a definite clove note. The smell I couldn't place suddenly became clear because it actually reminded me of my late nan/grandma and her Elnett hair spray. It has undoubtedly undergone transformations since its debut in the 20s, so smelling this bottle that I have (probably from the 60s) leaves us with a suggestion of what the original could have smelled like.
