About this deal

I'm stating it so you can see why someone would want to involve in sex with someone who can't see or notice them. Helen, on the other hand, likes to eat dead babies and as an obstetrician at the maternity ward she is right at the source to her object of desire. Anyone who can make me laugh like a hyena while inserting American Psycho, Nick Cave and Cannibal Corpse references is more than welcome to be a part of my world, or at least a part of my books shelf.

Okay so, never, ever, in my life have I read anything so vile, disturbing, sickening, grotesque, appalling. Of course, you can always counterargue about these things, I’m not trying to make a point in my review. The shock value is real and truly a selling point in reading something like this because I’ve never read a book that had a ton of OMG and WTF moments that blew my mind. The first thing to know is that this is a brutally descriptive story about the relationship between a necrophiliac and a cannibal. We follow an unnamed narrator as he goes about explaining and indulging in his unconventional proclivities and then he meets a girl.

MC and Helen are bound to be doomed and despite the short intermezzo encompassing their unity and Helen’s efforts, it is clear from the very first page that there are no rose gardens in their future.

Our main character, a young security guard with a sexual appetite for colder women, happens to notice a Female Doctor in his workplace visiting the morgue out of hours and decides to investigate. As they unwittingly help each other understand a world in which neither of them seems to belong, they begin to realize what it truly means to be alive. He's able to accomplish this fucked-up exploration of self-discovery because of his job as a night shift hospital security guard. It doesn't matter if you're into Stephen King, Octavia Butler, Jack Ketchum or Shirley Jackson, this is the place to share that love and discuss to your heart's content. It isn’t clear what happened to the protagonist whether he was caught or whether like Helen he worked his way up to murder. These two social outcasts’ lives intertwine taking their personal perversions to all new, unfathomable levels of extreme. But it is above all about an isolation, an alienation and a resulting unconformity so deep, it is bound to be hellish. The references to better books was groan-inducing, but I did laugh out loud when our main character said Fight Club is his favorite Palahniuk. It’s just beyond belief that anything like this could ever happen in real life but honestly, it did its job, freaked me the hell out, and is a book I will never forget.

It's truly hilarious how our main character is obsessed with existing outside society, but in reality he is nothing but a product of the patriarchy with thoughts and feelings just like so many pathetic men I've unfortunately known IRL. I listened to this on a 3 hour road trip today, and would just love to know what the other drivers on the road thought was happening when they passed my car and saw a 21 year old girl screaming at nobody, steering one-handed with the other clamped over her mouth in complete revulsion, and/or staring out into the distance wondering how she arrived at a point in life where a book like Dead Inside was chosen for a "fun" Thursday read. I spread her legs a little wider and mount her, groaning as I slide myself into the cold dryness of her unlubricated vaginal canal. The Narration is performed by Daniel Caravetta and at first I found it kind of annoying (sorry Daniel) but then I noticed something about the way he reads this story.Have you ever had one of those moments where you just sit back, stare off into space, and wonder to yourself, how did I end up here? Almost political in nature is also main character’s (MC) sexual life – although he acknowledges the root of his sexual preference stemming from the fact that dead bodies are safe and can’t hurt you, they won’t lie and cheat and reject you, he also takes a certain kind of pride in the deviancy of that preference. I feel like all the blood in my body has rushed into my groin, and there’s an undeniable magnetism between our genitalia, pulling me toward her, beckoning me into her.

Chandler Morrison is able and capable and just when complacency sets in and you think that the highlight of the grotesqueness and grossness is past, wham! I’m not saying I needed him to feel guilty or be less of a “monster”, I just needed him to stop devoting his entire life to impressing 14-year-old white boys on reddit. SO, the main character in this book conveniently works as a security guard at a hospital, because obviously it’s the perfect place for him to indulge in all his fucked up desires. he doesn’t report her to the authorities and they obviously strike up a very weird kinship, because they’re both fucking psychotic.I walk back to the living room and pick up my discarded shirt, taking my cigarettes out of the pocket and lighting one. You know, you go into these gory horror movies seeing insane, gruesome, violent, crazy death traps that each new one introduced is worse than the one before until you get to the final, craziest trap of them all. So if you’re looking for a Bonnie and Clyde or Mickey and Mallory kind of wild romance– this is not where you will find it. And it is indeed possible to see these as victimless crimes since there is no legal entity, no pain, no trauma inflicted. He manages to lace a layer of pleasure into his reading that really fits the main character almost too well, and that’s definitely what you want with an Audiobook.
